How so? Only when you win, which is rarer than teeth on a hen. There's a reason casinos make so much money...

The rest of the "fun" can be enjoyed in all kinds of places other than casinos.

Ive had fun at casinos and walked away lighter in the wallet plenty of times but i never bet more than i can afford so its not a problem - i enjoy the ambience of casinos, the camaraderie at certain table games like craps, the fact i can drink at just about any time of the day or night and its no problem.

Sure you could have fun elsewhere, but most of those other places could be argued are a purveyor of other insidious elements like alcoholism/alcohol related violence etc - but i dont hold those establishments accountable in the same way i dont hold casinos accountable.

If you have an issue with something you either work on your self control or remove yourself entirely from the sitch.

Sure, but that doesn't mean Casinos and good times go hand in hand. That may be YOUR perception, but it's far from the rule.

I do agree it's people's responsibility to stay away, like I do, not only because I strongly dislike anything that amounts to wasting money, but because of its risk of addiction.

Tbf it was a light hearted "other side of the coin" response to morkel who seems to think theyre the devil

As usual the truth is somewhere in the middle. Casinos arent for everyone but they can be fun and if people are sensible most will enjoy themselves, those that dont believe in gambling or have issues should absolutely stay away.
 
This whole story is quite funny. I hope he doesn't cop more than a slap on the wrist, but **** gambling is just the dumbest fucking thing. Cheat the cheaters, serve the servants.
 
He got fined and no conviction recorded so I can't imagine the NRL will impose any sanctions.

Would we better off as a society if casinos and gambling didn't exist? I believe we would. For a start we wouldn't have to watch the painfully deceitful gambling ads.
 
I'm staying in a casino. It's fucking amazing. All those addicts down stairs paid for this.

Myself and the missus spent about an hour down their earlier. We lost a whopping $2.

I'll win the jackpot tomorrow though.
