Josh Hoffman Appreciation Thread

Coote was pretty fantastic last year really.

I agree with Big Pete there.

I guess you never saw Melbourne Storm play the Broncos in the 2004 and 2005 seasons?

I have and even watched the 2005 games recently, Hill never really outplayed Lockyer or enjoyed a better season.

You got to be kidding me if you think Coote had a better season than Hoffman last season.

Strong argument buddy...

Coote's faster, a better support player, a better playmaker and a stronger player under the high ball (especially in attack). In defence he's on par with Hoffman, the only advantage I'd give Josh is his ability to return the ball.

How many Panther's games do you even watch?
I bet the games only against the Broncos, and that is your whole arugment.

You'd lose your money.

Coote out jumped Hoffman therefore he is a better fullback!

Outjumped, out-ran, outplayed Hoffman.

Steve Price out jumped Hoffman too, he is a better fullback as well!

Again you missed the point, although Price did make Hoffman look pretty bad, being outjumped by a prop. God damn Price was a great player.

How many games did Hoffman even play in 2008 and 2009? [eusa_doh

Exactly, he wasn't even good enough to start unlike Coote who'd already made a name for himself.

OMG in 2008 and 2009 do you think Coote would have started in front of Karmichael Hunt???? SMH.

If given the chance, Coote would have played more games than Hoffman did who only ended up disappointing in his time at the back.

But you're right, that is slightly unfair to Hoffman - which is why I said technically - Coote already had a head-start on Hoffman. The main point is, I thought Coote had a better season than Hoffman in 2010.

By no means am I willing to bet who's going to have a better career - the ranking was purely decided on what I've seen of both.

I agree. Coote is way better than Ryan Hoffman.

I think Hoffman has the edge defensively over Coote, but there's no doubt Coote's a dynamic attacking player at this stage. Hoffman's no slouch either.

Like others, I wouldn't trade Hoffman for anyone, but I wouldn't make a silly statement like he's in the top 3 fullbacks in the game. He's 1 game into his 2nd full season FFS! [icon_lol1.

Go back and watch the games the Broncos v Storms in 2004 and 2005 seasons .
Hill out plays Lockyer in every game.
You only started watching league in 2006 didn't you?
Just like people started following Roar yesterday? Correct me if I'm wrong.
I watch all the Panther games, as my sister is a big MJ fan.
Coote tries hard, much like Gidley. His attacking game consist of going up for bombs and that's it!

**** me you guys are worse than AP. Hell your both making me wish AP would enter the topic and start talking about bennett. This topic isn't about Lockyer or Hill in 2004 it's about Hoffman right now and in 2010 nothing more nothing less.
For 2 guys with Big in their names you are acting like little kids in a play ground.

They have big E-Peens, they are comparing.

PS: AP would bring Slater into it...

I agree.
Sort it in out the ring?

No he didn't - Round 3 2004 Lockyer outplayed Hill easily.

Hill didn't do anything in Round 4 2005.

Lockyer came out on top in the Round 19 clash and Hill barely played a role in the Suncorp semi - that was all Orford.

You only started watching league in 2006 didn't you?

What's up with you getting all personal? Can't you debate without having to ask about my own personal experience.

I've been watching since 2000, when I was 10 and have caught a bunch of games from the 80's through to now.

I watch all the Panther games, as my sister is a big MJ fan.

[icon_lol1. I'm sure you do but with a statement like this...

Coote tries hard, much like Gidley. His attacking game consist of going up for bombs and that's it!

I call BS.

Coote is barely anything like Kidley, if anything he's more like Slater - good third man, good support and a lot of small man syndrome with flashes of class and as you mentioned fantastic at going up for the bombs.

At the end of the day, I rate Coote before Hoffman, this isn't set in concrete. You disagree and I'm fine with that but I'm not fine with you being disrespectful.

or 2 guys with Big in their names you are acting like little kids in a play ground.

Pffft, have you seen some of the posts on these boards? This is all part of the parcel.

Yes he did. Get your Lockyer beer goggles off.
Storms didn't even play Broncos in round 3 in 2004!
You never saw the qualifying final in 2004 I take it? [eusa_naugh

So how many tries did Coote score off kicks last year?

Typo, Round 4.

I did and it was a game where Hill got the better of Locky.

There really isn't more that can be said, move on.

someone ordered some 'Slaters the best fullback in the game' in here?

Coote would make a better AFL player than Hoffman, and that's all that really matters these days.

He would need to come to the Broncos to be poached by AFL.
