Kangaroos Named

I would have picked Thaiday for Stewart and Myles for Watmough, otherwise the team is fine. Although Creagh and Waterhouse are a tad unlucky.

I'm as maroon as they come, but Waterhouse and Creagh and playing light years ahead of Thaiday. He needs to provide more impact, because the more I watch him the more I'm of the school he surrenders easily at impact.

Totally agree. Seems Sammy tends to run more angles but also more from a standing start.

Waterhouse and Creagh seem to be on the burst when they get the ball.

Which of course perhaps reflects on the way the forward play is structured and how backrowers like Sammy are positioned to receive the ball.

Lewis should be bench utility. For all his skills at fullback, Gidley isn't versatile enough to have on the bench.

Agreed, Gidley being a good utility is the biggest myth at rep level. The likely scenario is that none of the backs will get injured, and Gidley will either have to replace Smith, who is infinitively better and can play the full 80 anyway, or he can just sit on the bench for the entire match. Lewis, on the other hand, can easilly cover the back row if there are no injuries.

I always thought you would reward incumbents if THEY WIN and PLAY WELL when they have played for Australia before.

Our backrow was why we friggen lost the World Cup! Except Paul Gallen who I think is worthy of his selection.

Watmaugh & Stewart are soooo lucky, Watmaugh's defence is on par with under 13's..seriously, the bloke is a turnstyle. I also think Hodges is pretty lucky...but at least he's performed at the Aussie level before.

Not too sure why everyone is talking creagh up so much, for mine Thaiday has been playing better than Creagh. Waterhouse is on fire but so is Gallen. Even if you hate him you can't escape the fact that he is a superb back rower.

Creagh runs wide, gets the ball on the burst, scores tries.

I think we should stop using Sammy as a battering ram and be a tad more creative - maybe have him run (like Creagh) almost as an extra centre.

Whoa! Let's replace Michaels with Sammy! [icon_drun

I'm not too sure which Creagh you have been watching, but Ben Creagh is the form back rower of the comp. Thaiday imo, is probably 3rd or 4th behind Creagh, Waterhouse then Gallen.

Personally, I would have cut Laffranchi, Stewart and Watmough and bought in Thaiday, Creagh and Waterhouse.

I agree 100%. Creagh espeically is playing fantastic footy. Thaiday just runs at markers and drops. Should run a bit wider

Australia's chances may have slightly improved:

http://www.news.com.au/couriermail/stor ... 52,00.html
AUSTRALIA'S preparations for the Trans-Tasman Test have been thrown into disarray with out of form fullback Billy Slater breaking down at training.

The Melbourne Storm flyer suffered an ankle injury and was immediately carried into the changerooms at Langlands Park for treatment this afternoon.

.....

In better news for Australia winger Darius Boyd appears to have overcome a thigh strain and should take his place in Friday night's Test match.

Boyd's inclusion will ensure Australia fields its first all-Queensland backline in 85 years. Even if Slater is ruled out, Bronco Karmichael Hunt would be a superior replacement.

Nice edit [icon_lol1.

Golden coxy, golden.

Wouldn't it be vomit worthy if they moved Kidley to 1 & Lewis to the bench if Slater was ruled out? !!!

I read that if Slater is ruled out late, they may not being in Hunt - they may put Boyd at fullback and Monaghan on the wing.

Seriously [icon_ee That's even worse! They'd be better off shifting Lockyer to FB and Kidley to 7, that's how ridiculous that would be.
