I can't believe he got put on report TBH.

I'll quote NNN but to all those who share the same sentiment you guys need to open your eyes.

He hit him flush in the head, broke his nose in about 40 places, had to go off for a second time in the second half with blood dripping out of his nose like a tap. Anasta showed a mountain of ticker to still be on there and I respect him for that, I also respect him for coming out and having no hard feelings towards Hunt shows what sort of men they both are but of course this view is beyond a lot of you all.

It was an innocent shoulder charge gone wrong, but it did go wrong. The impact was massive and resulted in a horrific injury. Report warranted and I wouldn't be surprised to see him sidelined for a few weeks - since when is 'I didn't mean it' a defense?

Shoulder charge gone wrong? How did it go wrong? I didn't! Hunt drove in with the shoulder, Anasta slipped and his face went straight into Hunt's bicep! Please tell me what exactly is illegal about the shot.

He. Got. Hit. In. The. Head.

If Anasta didnt fall , it would have been shoulder to shoulder. No intent so its fine.

Riley brown on Wing was intent and he got off. I know it wasnt at the head but if a blatant shot like that goes unpunished then why do accidental ones even get mentioned.

What are we trying to teach our kids of footy?

In saying that I think Karmichael should've been reported, I can also see him getting off due to his clean record, the fact that Anasta was falling and it seems Anasta has no hard feelings and would go to the judiciary for K if necessary. Fingers crossed

Simple mate, if Anasta didn't trip and fall, Hunt would've charged him fair in the chest and put him on his arse. It would've made the highlights reel as a great hit.

You guys weren't blowing up when Hunt got Ko'ed by Pritchard?

Hunt was slipping...

And also Frankie had a stiff, swinging arm. That wasn't a shoulder charge.

Not that I necessarily agree with it but whether its accidental or not (quite clearly it was accidental, in fact it was in no way Hunt's fault at all) unfortunately for Hunt the rules state that a hit to the head warrants a penalty. Just like an accidental head high if a player is falling and the defender is set at taking aim at the guts or the ball/chest. Penalty sufficient, play on. No further action required. At all! (you listening you ABC halfwits?)

And that's how it should pan out with Hunt.

If he is charged it will be a disgrace, plain and simple. The MRC has an historically reactionary nature to beat-ups like this though, so a lengthy suspension is not only not out of the question, but odds on favourite.

Point of impact was with the shoulder though.

Whatever, there is no point in arguing. Obviously I hope that he does get off but I forgot how bias some of us were around these parts, I think I'll stick with playing in my own sandbox. [icon_wink

Looked bad, but if you compare it to whatshisface on Craig Wing, he should get off.

Then again, this is the Broncos and the Judicary is in Sydney

The injury to Anasta aside, what was with all the shoulder charges by the Broncos last night? That's normally not our go, but last night we tried a shoulder charge nearly every defensive set. It's a dangerous habit to get into

I'm waiting for when coaches will teach their players to jump into the tackle and collect a head high to get a penalty. Sounds silly but i bet it happens soon.

You're right, if it was hunt on the other end ppl here would be calling for anasta to be executed. Either way, i loved it, but there was definitely intent there, and i did notice his arm come up significantly after the hit, as if he was deliberately trying to decapitate him. I hope he gets off tho, it was brilliant haha

Nah mate, I mostly agree with you.

Accident or not, it was the correct decision at the time to be penalised and put on report. However, he should not get suspended.

If Hunt came in with a stiff arm that would have hit Anasta on the body had he not slipped, would we be having this argument? Or what if it was someone like Greg Bird that shoulder charged Anasta? The fact is, any contact with the head - accident or not - arm or shoulder - results in a penalty. He smeared Anasta's nose across his face.

The bias is two-fold here I think. One, we're Brisbane fans. Two, almost everyone hates Anasta. I, like you, thought he showed a lot of guts to play on last night and then to defend Hunt after the game. For the record, I can't stand him.

I think we generally have the ability to look at our team objectively but we've slipped up a bit here. We're not Manly fans people. Their blind fanaticism is just embarrassing and I'd hate for us to be as bad as them one day.

We need to get rid of the Sydney paranoia though. It's getting really tiresome.

FFS.

KARMICHAEL Hunt should have been sent from the field last night the moment he drove his elbow into Braith Anasta's face - and he should not be alone in the dock.

....

Anasta's stumble changed the dynamics of the situation - but Hunt still attacked the head of an opposing player and should have been sent off.

^ That is possibly the worst article I've read. God the Telegraph are useless.

He also disallowed a Roosters try for obstruction and legitimised what could have been a crucial late field goal from Lockyer to make the score 21-14.
Maxwell raised his arm to indicate a field goal had been kicked but noticed Lockyer waiting on the 30m line for play to restart - instead of half-way - because he knew his kick had missed.
Maxwell then changed his decision.

Two things.
Steve Clark denied the try due to obstruction, not Maxwell.
Also, I thought Maxwell raised his arm to blow time off so he could check the field goal with the video ref. I could be wrong on this one but I don't remember him indicating that it was good.

That's just a sloppy article. No wonder they copy and paste most of their articles from AAP because their writers are terrible.

I loved this bit.

An upright Anasta would have taken the force of Hunt's shoulder charge on his chest or upper arm.

Anasta's stumble changed the dynamics of the situation - but Hunt still attacked the head of an opposing player and should have been sent off
.

Exactly how does a legimate shoulder charge turn into attacking the head because the OTHER player stumbled?
