THE EX Kevin Walters

I don't agree that we quit ... the 55% possession the Storm had didn't help us
Nah they 100% gave up like the meek ***** they are and it's of grave concern. But teams always get the occasional thrashing (except Melbourne) as long as they back it up with a good performance next week you can chalk it down to Melbourne just killing us as usual.

So basically he started going well once he didn't have to play the South African and NZ teams.
Yeah, you’re right. 6 and 0, the best team in Oz at the moment but we can’t play overseas teams so he’s shit. 🙄

yeah but let's put this in terms of the NRL ... getting rid of the NZ and SA teams basically would be like only having to play against the bottom 8 teams, never needing to face the likes of the Storm, Roosters, Panthers etc

I know people don't want to hear this ...

but after 4 games this season we literally fell only 20 minutes short of being 3-1 this season.

against Para we had a 15 minute period where they scored 3 tries to take the lead while we had only 1 man on the bench. although we need to keep that hush hush, as the media only care of that injury toll happens to the Roosters.

against the Titans, we went to sleep for 5 minutes just before half time, letting in 3 tries. for the other 75 minutes of that match we outscored the new "giants" of QLD rugby league.
All I take from this is that Brisbane are such a bad side that they can lose a game in 10 minutes, and they do it pretty well every week.

It seems this is a Seibold trademark, Newcastle is learning how to do it as well.

When i look at what good the team is making progress on, its leaps and bounds ahead of the past 2 years of damage.

Such a young squad, with literally a generational gap on hard work and standards. The cap is slowly getting bent back into shape too. Its not going to change overnight. I dont even think Robinson or Bellamy would be a solution currently.

Tbh I’m tiring of the young squad excuse too. Penrith have a younger team than us and they seem to be doing alright.

they've been bringing their young team along for longer than us though. Nathan Cleary is a perfect example. he's been an NRL have back for for 5 years, and it wasn't until last year we saw some real consistency from him

Our forwards are the most overrated forward pack in NRL history.

Week after week, they are given a pass while teams carve us up the middle and we make no metres or quick play the balls.

They get to pass the blame to Milford and the backs. I can't remember the last time we won a battle up the middle, even the Canterbury game was pretty evenly matched.

Maybe. I can’t find a 2021 easy to access list but we had 400 more games experience last year than the Panthers. We did lose Boyd which was a lot of games but panthers lost Tamau amongst other.

We saw how they went in 2019 when things weren't going their way. They were able to make a couple of changes, they won a couple of close games and they're still riding that wave from 2020.

Brisbane on the other hand had the coaching fall-out a horror 2020 with injuries and they're paying St George and Wests to play three of their marquee players.

I guess that is in line with my point, youth or inexperience alone isn’t an excuse for failure.

Yeah sorry I didn't see the context of your post.

It's absolutely not the sole excuse but if the Broncos are going to turn things around, a major part in that is the younger players improving their games and doing the little things right. They're stuck right now because they came into the year off such a low base and their roster is what it is.

Penrith also had a smattering of experienced blokes who were actually contributing something.

Compare the pair:
Yeo, Tamou, Mansour, Koroisau, Capewell, etc

Bird, Boyd, Oates, Milford, Glenn, etc

Milford and Oates are really perplexing for mine. Both were absolutely top shelf on their day and fairly good as a baseline before Pies came in and burned the Broncos. What happened that just absolutely shredded them, is it confidence or something else?

Penrith also have the best nursery in the country. Players in reggies are playing at a level that is better than NRL quality some weeks.

No Premiership Ring, my friend.
