Kevvy has impressed me

After listening to him initially struggle through press conferences since he started I am amazed at how far kevvy has come as a coach. Seibold was a better talker which won him the spot initially but kevvy is a better man manager. He's got a sense of humour and is a likable character which I think makes him pretty popular around the team.

I like the way he takes almost no credit for where the team is at and uses the post match press conference to promote the job his on field leaders do. The more confidence they have the better we will perform. Call it what you want, undoubtedly our resurgence this year as a bit to do with reyno and capes and the like.. but alot more to do with kevvy and how he has managed to get the team to buy into his brand of footy.

Another thing I've noticed is our team is markedly fitter that last year. Majority of points we score are in the second half which has always been a struggle in recent years.

Here's to hoping kevvy continues to succeed, it's a nice story for him and Billy who both seem like champion human beings that have had to deal with a lot in life.

I obviously have a soft spot for Kevie as he was a major part of the Bronco's golden era. It was a magical time to be a Brisbane fan and an era that certainly won't be equaled again in my lifetime.

Also our sons used to play each other during junior footy. He was the Wests touchie and I did it for our club. Obviously there were a lot of tries scored and we had many a chat behind the goal posts. He is genuinely a really nice guy and as laid back as they come.

I was a bit apprehensive when he was hired to fix the absolute mess created and left behind by Seibold. I certainly had my doubts if he was capable enough being a rookie NRL coach and all. He was walking into a club at it's lowest ebb in history (by far) and was expected to dig it out of the shitter.

What he has achieved in such a short time cannot be underestimated. To be sitting in the top 4 halfway through his second season is mind boggling. It's not like he has a superstar roster. The spine consists of an aging HB and basically nothing else. He has got these guys motivated again and it certainly shows defensively and the numbers prove it. Offensively, they have at times rivalled that of the 90's teams with the way they can turn it on and score quick points and totally blowing away the opposition. Eg. Cant, GC and Newc.

Like Kevie said in his presser last night "There is still plenty of work to be done." They certainly aren't there yet as far as premierships go but with the rate of improvement as of late, title contention may only be 2-3 years away. And that would be an incredible feat as will a playoff berth this year if it happens.

It would be amazing to see Kevie win a comp as a coach. The same team he won 5 with as a player. It would be an incredible chapter for one of Rugby League's "good guys".

If we wanted to remain being the Brisbane Broncos and avoid turning into a club that was just going through the motions, they definitely had to bring back someone who understood the club and the pressure associated with the club

Look at the Bulldogs, they talk about what it means to be a Bulldog, the only bloke in their team who knows what that means would be their captain, Trent Barrett wouldn't have had any idea what that meant

What you also need are competent people in head office that can recognize what the coach needs to be given the best possible chance of succeeding.

Ikin deserves a lot more credit than what he's currently getting. We've turned things around since he has joined the club. Part of the reason is because he's taken some responsibilities that Kevvie originally had and it's just allowing Kevvie to focus on coaching the side.

I beg to differ. When compared with somebody like Belly ache or Madge Siebold played for us so would have a modicum of passion for the club. He certainly would have an attachment to the club and indeed the fact he played for us means he also has a history with the club.

You're splitting hairs and way off course when you say there is "a mammoth difference". Unless I've missed something which I'd be happy for you to point out.

Yeah comparing kevy and seibold in terms of love for the club, it's obvious kevvy has more passion for the broncos.. I'm not sure what your getting at here.

I think ikin and DD deserve a lot of the credit also. I was never sceptical of kevy, I knew his first year was going to be tough but who is a jet at a new job within the first 12 months. Kevy seems to have the love of the players which is bennet like (not that in comparing them as coaches but just saying it's similar to bennets popularity among the playing group)

Seibold was obviously way to technical for the broncos. Apparently he had a different attacking play for every position on the field. No wonder blokes like Milford struggled to understand what he wanted from him.

Anyway after a successful year I hope the broncos give kevvy a longer term deal. I think he deserves it

Siebold played how many games for Brisbane? I can't find anything other than a reference to playing 'lower grades' for Brisbane, so really not sure about that.
Kev played around 240 games for Brisbane, winning 5 premierships, captained the club, and is the club's hall of fame.
There simply isn't a comparison to be made.
Perhaps though, I have missed your point :)

No mate I never compared the two. I did however, point out that it could be argued that Siebold ticked those boxes too and was an absolute disaster for the club.

To be honest I can't stand the sight of the guy. I've already spent too much time discussing him.
