Live Chats with Hook and White

I want to know why the only play we consistently try to used is the second man. It works inconsistently and Norman backs himself too frequently. It makes us predictable but over the last two years we have shown some amazing plays (Gillett running lines off prince, Glenn finding holes, short passing of forwards, giving Hodges space) why do these only get used once a year. Also why in maranta still there. I understand Norman, we don't really have replacement but I'm 99% sure we have one coming next year.

Oh dear, the hard ones first, eh?

Don't forget the flowers and chokkies

They're doing things behind the scenes that "cannot be publicized" apparently.

Good idea to have it as an online thing hook will sound less like a robot via text

And if he falls asleep then someone as can just start typing and no one will be aware

hook obviously isn't coach material. he couldn't find any answers off google on how to coach so now he needs a live chat forum to hopefully get an idea on why things aren't working. dark days

Look, first off, I do think this initiative by the club is A step in the right direction. I also believe it is somewhat of an admission by White and Gee Gee that the fans are becoming short OF patience when it comes to team performances this season. The thing I am somewhat concerned about with this 'fan chat' concept is, however, is that if fans, such as many of the fans here on BHQ, begin by all asking the same, OR similar questions. If that occurs, this could event on Tuesday night could become a complete PR disaster for the club, and a frustrating and futile exercise for fans.

What I would like to propose (with the permission of the moderation team) is that subscribers come up with an agreed upon list/set of questions we would like to pose to Hook. Perhaps if each member here puts forward 1 particular question they would like Hook to answer, we can then compile a final/definitive list.

Since this was my idea, perhaps I can go first with my choice of proposed question. Anyway, here goes :

1. Hook, during your playing days in the Brisbane Rugby League (BRL), what would you say was your most memorable moment?

I would ask him what was it like coaching a legend like Darren Lockyer in his final year as a rookie coach.

The other one would be is there any chance of some positional changes to finish the year (Hunt in the halves, Maranta to fullback etc).

The only position maranta should play is left right out, cliché but appropriate

I don't give a stuff about his playing days, his Favourite flavour of ice cream or any of that shit.

I want to know why hunt hasn't had the extended go in the halves like Norman got, especially when he literally couldn't do any worse than the incumbents.

I want to know why we are persisting with Norman when he is no longer out future.

I want to know why whenever something works I.e. forwards passing, genuine hooker off the bench etc. we almost instantly go away from
It.

I want to know what ideas he has to get us out of this situation and why is he the guy to do this?

I couldn't give a **** about he's BRL playing days

So let's prioritise our questions here...

Ben Hunt - I liked the way Porthoz phrased that question.

Fullback - I wouldn't focus on Norman because I don't care to hear Hook justify his selection. I'd phrase it like...Who can we expect to see replace Corey Norman at fullback in 2014?

Our Offence - I wouldn't target any specific examples because I believe the response will focus on disproving your claim. I'd ask something to the effect of...'We have the best completion rates in the competition yet have difficulty scoring points. What's been the biggest challenge for the players and what changes can we expect to see?'

Guys, some of the proposed questions being put forward here are really great - please keep them coming (please do not PM the questions specifically to me though, as some subscribers have been doing over the past 12 hours or so). I think it would be more prudent to keep them in this specific thread for easier compilation by the mods.

Now, if time permits tomorrow night, I wonder if I may PUT forward just the 1 more question for Hook? Thanks guys and really lovin the enthusiasm for this initiative!

2. Hook, in relative terms, you are somewhat new to NRL coaching. You are, however, in charge of one of the competitions' glamour/powerhouse clubs. Now, you have a reputation for being an unflappable type of character who rarely shows any emotion/anxiety. I'm just wondering Hook, what strategies have you put in place to ensure the pressure of coaching does not impact upon your emotional/mental wellbeing? Perhaps you could share with some of us budding coaches the effective relaxation techniques that work for you?

i feel like this chat isnt really going to achieve anything.

it would certainly be nice to get some answers concerning our spine and what is being done about them, and 2014.
