I don’t see what it is that Gillett brings that make him suitable. He does an awful lot of dumb sh*t as well as obviously the good stuff.
Just because he is experienced doesn’t make him a good captain. If you’re good enough you are old enough. Look at RTS at the Warriors. He is club captain at 25...
Every player does dumb shit, even Locky did dumb shit on and off the field.
Every pre-season reports come out of Gillett's leadership within the playing group encouraging and spurring on the players that are struggling, lifting them to put in that little bit of extra effort. He will do extra to make sure they don't have to by repeating whatever it is they are doing. And he does that on the field, as well. He puts in that little bit extra to lift the side and leads by example. He talks a lot on the field, he's already one of the leaders within the side.
He has the respect of the playing group, he is looked up to within the playing group.
He has all of the things you look for in a leader.
There aren't any other players that would be more suitable than Gillett.
