Lockyer vs Langer

Langer, mainly because of the amazing career he had despite his massive size limitations. Loclyer is whisker behind him though and easily the best fullback I have ever seen.

I'm picking Locky on this one. Unfortunately, I only got to see the end of Langer's career (seeing his Origin comeback made me actually follow footy!), so I have seen more of Locky's greatness than him.

It's so hard to split them. They're different styles of players. Both have won 4 premierships with the Broncos. Both captained winning club, Origin and Test series in the one year (Langer 1998, Lockyer 2006).

To be honest, I don't want to pick one. So I won't. I just cherish the fact I got to witness both these tremendous players at their peak for my club, state and country for so long.

how can you just go "Lockyer" and not explain why?

I really cant make up my mind, if i was to say Lockyer it would be because i still see him play now. If i said Langer its because he was my fav player as a kid.
Lockyer because he is Lockyer, no explanation needed icon_smile

As someone who has seen Lewis, Langer and Lockyer play their careers I think it really is impossible to split them.

Lewis had a huge kick, a great passing game and rock solid if not brutal defence, plus an ability to always get a little bit more out of those around him.

Langers short kick was brilliant, his passing combination with the walters twins was great and his step inside through tired players looked so simple, but fantastic all at once.

Lockyer has a good kick, a good pass and an eye for what is going on that allows him to set up the play, BUT he is always there, in attack or defence he is always where the ball is.

All three are almost always one of the best players on the park no matter the match or the result, to split them is tough. On any given day they were each the best player to have laced up a boot... that's good enough for me.

Those sitting on the fence... come on!

Honestly, though I know where you guys are coming from because I don't think the Broncos would be the 'Broncos' without both these players and that is a fair call in itself.

For me, I think Langer played in an era where the footy hype was so big (and the teams were powerhouses) - esp when I was a kid... it was just bigger then. In saying that Lockyer played and aged when the game changed and we won so many games simply because he was there. Take him out of the team in 03/04/05 and we wouldn't be the consistent team we were. Locky for me if I HAD to choose.

to Lockys credit he has played thru a few changes in style and stayed on top that works for him. Langer the style didnt change to much.

Lewis. I dont think he deserves to be in a conversation about Great Broncos because he isnt one. He isnt in the league of Lockyer or Langer when it comes to great Broncos.
