Lockyer's 300th game

Absolute legend of the game.

Every single one of those 300 was quality too.

Ahh...maybe... Almost every single one.

But what I admire particularly bout him is his calmness in crisis - sign of his fantastic leadership.

Congrats to Locky - can remember the early years very well

Funny thing is I'm getting married today so I won't see the game. Mrs would probably kill me for putting Lockyer's 300th first grade game in the same sentence as our wedding but hey, it's a big day all round.

Lockyer.

The word itself should be a superlative.

The footy show did a quick best of Locky when the game was on the line and they were only from the last couple of years. Some awesome at the death plays

Lockyer won't forget his 300th game in a hurry.

What is everyone's first memory of Lockyer?
Mine would probably be back when he played without a mouthguard and copped some smashed teeth. [icon_ee
Was that his first season?

Nope, 2nd. That was against the Sydney Roosters in Monday Night Football (its reintroduction) in 1996. The same game Andrew Gee did the wrong tap on the 20m line and got penalised with scores level and time up. Cost us the game you big fat ****.

:P

Lockyer's a true legend of the game. I think the only true champion in all senses of the word since Langer and Lewis.

My first memory of him was seeing highlights of his debut, setting up two tries as the Broncos flogged Parramatta 60-14. I thought then he'd be something special and he exceeded my expectations.

I even had a fan site dedicated to him for a while!

Nice to see Locky show Newcastle how a true champion accepts an accolade, even after a disappointing loss.

I didn't see it either, just saw bits on the news. Nothing spectacular, but he didn't chuck a hissy fit and refuse to come out and accept the game ball because his team didn't play well, a la Johns 2006 (http://www.smh.com.au/news/league/joey- ... 11238.html).

Lockyer's ability to be graceful in defeat is one of his greatest attributes.

Yep, and one of the reasons I consider him a TRUE champion, and not Johns. But let's not have that debate again here....

Haha no, I was hoping my initial comment would be subtle enough that we could just brush past it and I wouldn't actually have to mention Johns by name.

Without comparing him to anyone now (honestly), his conduct on the field with the refs, other teams, and his own players, is faultless. Always a gentleman.

What a champion, I Love lockyer!! Go for 350 mate!

He should get to 350 if reports of a 2-year extension are accurate....and he stays fit.

... And he can tackle Ben Creagh front-on. [icon_razz1

No matter how many games he ends up playing, he will number amongst the very best to have played the game and we are very luck to have shared the time with him. I have been able to watch some of the true long term champions and play makers in Kenny, Sterlo, Lewis, Lamb, Daley, Fitler, Langer, Johns and now Locky... not to forget the other legends of the game in the likes of big Mal, Clyde, Lidner, the walters boys, Webcke and a heap of others. But it has been Locky and the King that I have enjoyed the most and looked forward to seeing go around the following weekend, so all I can say is thankyou.
