looks like the media's destabilisation campaign hasn't worked ... reports today that the club is looking to extend Madge past 2027 as they believe he is the man to lead us to premiership number 8.
I hate to quote Morris, but he is the one getting himself in the media:
“I certainly see that (Maguire can be our long-term coach),” he said.
“We won a grand final last year.
“The season hasn’t gone as hoped due to the horrific injury toll the Broncos have had, but we think ‘Madge’ is the coach to deliver us our next premiership.
“It’s about winning games and we think he is the best coach for the Broncos.”
But the Broncos have been particularly impressed by how Maguire has held his nerve throughout all the adversity.
“Everyone that comes to the Broncos from other clubs is surprised by what it’s like,” Morris said.
“We are a one-team town.
“There are lots of clubs in Sydney and you can think you’re the centre of the universe, but when you come to Brisbane it’s a lot more intense and he has adapted to that extremely well.”
The season to-date
“This season has been up and down,” Morris said.
“The resilience of everyone at the club has impressed me. No one doubted it would turn.
“There was always a belief it would all come together once the right players were back on the field.
“We’ve used 32 players this year and it’s difficult to win games when you only have 50 per cent of your salary cap on the field.
“He has done well with not only the top 30 in the squad, but others because we have run out of players.
“No one likes losing and it’s all about winning, but once we got our players back on the field we saw what happened against Penrith.”
