OFFICIAL Manly sack Anthony Seibold

Siebold, from watching him do analytics as a commentator, he is switched on.

I believe he would be a great assistant coach, but history shows, a terrible head coach.

Must be a personality thing, that stops him from excepting his position in the rugby league landscape. Bit like Isaako or Cobbo, insisting they are fullbacks.

Kevin Walters might be what Manly needs. I like to think he has learned from his mistakes at the Broncos. He did turn us from wooden spoon into competing for grand final quickly.
He might be a good assistant if he didn't have a reputation for knifing head coaches in the back

Was it Madge he knifed at Souths?

If only he was willing to do his analytics on his carear. You would think after all the beatings he's taken, he would start to understand. Like I said, must be a personality fault.

He just comes across as so unlikeable and has a terrible voice. It just is what it is.

Like one or two others here, my take on Siebs is he will do well as an assistant coach, but not the head coach. The jobs are very different and some people are cut out for one but not the other. No shame in that. To be a career assistant coach, being well paid to work in a sport that you love, without the pressure or spotlight of being head coach, sign me up.

Before the Roosters game, I wrote that Seibold never learns. The effort his players showed against the Knights was disgraceful and he had to make changes. In the end, the only player who was dropped was Nathan Brown who only played 14 minutes - it wasn't like Manly played well for 60 minutes so I'm not sure what the logic was.

I didn't expect the Sea Eagles to act so swiftly but with so many players off contract in 2027 the new coach needs every opportunity to review recruitment and retention.

The way I see it, Seibold didn't cause these problems at Manly. However he's had four years to fix it and nothing has changed. They're still a soft team that struggles with consistensy.

They may as well put a red line through '26 and start preparing for '27 and beyond. Good opportunity to inject some new blood into the team and see if you can entice some blue chip prospects from NSW Cup and Colts into the team.

The club looks like it needs an overhaul on the roster... I'm not sure that's the right situation for a rookie coach like Ballin, but if they grabbed someone like Arthurs with the intent being that he's there for 3yrs until Ballin/Foran takes over fulltime.

But Arthurs isn't so old in his career that he would want to effectively be a caretaker coach for 3yr and set it up for someone else.

If someone like Ballin has a really clear vision on how he wants a roster shaped, then he might be ready to go.

Think they need to settle on a coach asap to make movements through this season with next year in mind cut some of the fat in the roster before june 30 and bring in some young guys

I'm a big fan of Arthur, he'd be perfect for Manly. That roster definitely needs generational change and while he might not get a premiership, they aren't even close anyway. They need someone who can point them in the right direction and that has Arthur written all over it...or Kevvie as a second choice.
