Maranta has come a long way and developing into a player I consider more balanced overall then Vidot, his gone from being a mistake riddled winger to being absolutely rock solid under the highball and is converting opportunities into tries so I would have to go with Maranta, for Vidot his stronger at making metres but I still have concerns his a target under the highball and that his not really improved since last season, having said that I think all 4 of Maranta, Kahu, Vidot and Oates are all upto the task anyway and it's nice to have that depth finally.

Maranta and Kahu permanent wingers for the future. You can't have kahu's catching ability under the high ball in the centres. Seriously. We need to chase Chambers or Holmes or Gagai. I want to see kahu get high bombs in there 20. He has the potential to have the prowess of Folau or tupou.

I've gone with Maranta as well.

Bennett gave him an ultimatum at the start of the season to either improve his game or he'll be looking elsewhere and so far he has not disappointed. He's miles safer under the highball than Vidot, has slightly better defence and even his kick returns are starting to improve. After being bundled into touch against the Bulldogs last week he got straight back up and got on with the game, whereas in previous seasons that would've destroyed his confidence and he'd be guaranteed to have shocker for the rest of the match.

I still rate Vidot and believe he has been a very decent backup winger for us this year but with Carlin Anderson only just being offered a new 12 month deal I'd say his days are numbered. I also still blame him for the loss against the Dragons, why couldn't he have tucked the ball under his arm and barged over like he's done for just about every other try this year? :mad2:

Bennett is certainly getting the most out of the players this year and so far everything's coming up Maranta!

Devil's Advocate says Vidot has been a lot safer in his last half-dozen games. Can't recall off the top of my head any typical stupid blunders since the start of the season.

I agree. But Maranta has been better. .

Vidot's kick returns weren't great in the wet but that's just unfortunate. . Maranta and kahu though. . They were hurling themselves at the D. Was awesome

What a difference a year can make. This time last year, this question would have been as obvious as asking would you like to sleep with a construction worker or a supermodel. A year goes by and under the guidance of Wayne, Maranta all of the sudden (he's our retard remember) is really showing up Vidot as being a better winger.

While Daniel can drag a defender or three better, Maranta pretty much has him in every other facet. Better positional play from the defensive end, has better ball handling skills, as mentioned by all is very safe under the high ball and has incredibly improved his pace which is pretty rare to see these days. If it was grand final day and I had to pick one if would be Maranta. That said, I think Vidot makes a better prop that Maranta.

This year Vidot, still think his metres are a necessity with McGuire out.

He's definitely had some blunders this year, none in the last month or two, but earlier in the year whenever he got a chance he was dropping everything and making awful defensive mistakes.

Beg to differ, Maranta is the safest winger in the comp and hasn't bombed any easy tries by my count this year, he's also bound to improve in other areas as he matures, I'm perfectly fine with him being a long term choice at the moment.

think he bombed one against st george...when he should have used 2 hands but went for the one handed put down

EDIT: my mistake it was Vidot?

Vidot still has the odd error in him.

May not always be a loose carry, but it could be a poor defensive read where he jams in on a centre or doesn't get to a kick that he should.

It isn't really obvious until you go back and study it on the video. I'm sure opposition coaches will pick up on it and come the finals will look to exploit it.

I went for Vidot for the bonus metres he offers but it's great that the side has these sorts of dilemmas. We currently have three wingers, Kahu, Vidot and Maranta, in great form and can only pick two of them.

We're no longer contemplating dropping Jack Reed, who has been outstanding at centre this year as opposed to being out of position on the wing or the bench, and Copley, last year's top tryscorer, can't even break into the side.

Finally, we're discussing who to reluctantly drop rather than which numpty to bring into the side in bad form.

This is pretty tough call, last year without a doubt I would have said Vidot but this year Maranta has improved majorly.

I do feel much safer at the back under the high ball with Maranta, the boy can catch and his returns have been much better but there is just something that I like about Vidot's metres from the back and his smashing/barging runs to score out wide.

Maranta. He's improved out of sight this year, is safer (vidot cost us the dragons game earlier this year), and can play fb if needed.

EDIT: Both are great wingers this season, but vidot can, and has, cost the broncos a match with poor handling ala Ashton sims.

I think it depends on who we're playing and how we are going to approach the game. I'd say Maranta is a safe choice most of the time but if we're playing the Warriors, putting Vidot against a Vatuvei might be a better fit. Similarly if we're down on size in the forwards and up against a big team then he would also be good to get some meters and help out with the tackling.

Most of the time it's Maranta for bomb security and consistent effort through the game.

Maranta by a country mile.

If both centres are fit then Kahu takes up one wing spot and Maranta takes the other. Heck, I'd even have Oates over Vidot at this point in the season.

Nothing personal against Vidot as I think he's played some of his best footy with us but I just can't see where he fits into our plans for the future. I have no doubt now that he'll be allowed to leave at season's end and I wish him all the best wherever he ends up.

If someone said to you last year that Maranta would be a gun with 7 weeks to go in the comp in 2015, you'd have laughed in their face.

He's a great, solid player at the moment. He's my first choice Winger each week.
