Willie Mason finally put an end to weeks of speculation over his future when he accepted a one-year NRL lifeline from North Queensland Cowboys on Thursday night.
The off-season's top-rating soap opera climaxed when Mason rejected an offer to return home to Newcastle Knights in preference to reuniting with former Bulldogs teammates Johnathan Thurston and Willie Tonga in the tropics.
