Match Fixing Allegations

Eddie no stranger to playing long odds

Rugby League players really need to take stock of people they call friends. If you've grown up with someone then stick with them but if some dickhead bikie or brothel owner worms his way into your life then maybe keep them at arms length.

That would require these boof heads to grow a brain. Which simply will not happen.

This game just keeps punching itself in the face. It's getting very embarrassing to support it.

Isn't it a straight up life time NRL ban for anyone found to be involved in match-fixing? Ryan Tandy got a life time ban, and he only did it in one game.

Ethan Lowe, Hymel Hunt, Cody Nelson, Slade Giffin and David Williams didn't get banned for life. They all got two weeks, Williams was longer.

They weren't done for match fixing, they were done for betting on league. Keep it real man.

It should be treated like drugs- don’t care about your story or the why or how did you gamble on games? See ya.

Waugh and Warne didn't fix games either but people wanted them banned for a long time and the reaction was angry over nothing being done.

On the sports program on fox tonight, they said the first game Souths vs Manly, it's rumoured to be 6 players.

1 from Souths & 5 from Manly.

They said if you can find the game online watch the last 15 mins & see how bad Manly were.

I found it online and checked it out. There was nothing obvious, maybe a couple of little things but I don't want to name anyone. But it didn't really seem like they were desperate to score, a bit odd considering they were down by 12 with the clock ticking down. Matai appeared to be trying his hardest.

That's a good opinion. But the fact remains, they weren't done for match fixing, hence the shorter bans.

I actually remember the game and was amazed that Manly went down with barely a whimper. They had it all to play for and there was little urgency into the game...it was Tooves last shot after a terrible season and they had been getting better and better over the preceding weeks . From memory I tipped them.

I am quite pissed off to be honest. I stood to make about $100 if Manly made the finals. Can I take legal action?

Am I the only one who finds that odd? Why would a Souths player be involved..

"Hey <Insert Souths player here> we're going to have a bunch of our (Manly) players trying to lose this game, if you could try your hardest to win by 8 or more that'd be great, here's $50,000 for your troubles."

More likely they've been instructed to deliberately run at a certain player or make it seem you've put more pressure on them than you actually have.

Hard to say... Do you know if there were any late players ins/outs in that game?

NRL's match fixing scandal is set to explode in the next 24 hours.
RLW has learned that Channel Seven and Fairfax Media are set to make sensational claims about the scandal.
The Organised Crime Squad has been investigating suspicious activity in several matches since early June.
The 2015 round 16 match between South Sydney and Manly, won by the Rabbitohs 20-8, and a round 24 clash between Manly and Parramatta, won by the Eels 20-16 are at the centre of allegations.
But a game earlier this season is also believed to be under investigation.
Stand by for developments.
