IT was the news the [HASHTAG]#Bronxnation[/HASHTAG] has been waiting to hear from the man himself.
Matt Gillett announced this morning he has re-signed with the Brisbane Broncos for another four years.
And he chose to do it on the club's own webshow Broncos Live at 7.30am this morning.
Always the joker, Gillett - who has missed most of the season with a serious neck injury - made some cracks about people thinking he was going to announce his retirement.
But the news was good - Gillett will be a Bronco until at least the end of the 2022 season.
"Being a one-club player at the Broncos is a very special thing," he said.

This is great news. With Thaiday gone next year and it looking like Glenn will be as well we need Gillett to be there with these young forwards. McCullough, McGuire and Gillett are the leaders of our young pack.

He will be but with another club. He is a thousand to one to be suiting in a Bronco jersey next year. He will take more money and his preferred position to a different club next season.

Even if he does in fact leave for more money to play back row, he and his new club will have a lot of work to do to get him ready for it. Wonder what club will take that risk to turn him into a back rower as it could be a season of misfire and potential confidence killing.

This is old news is it not. Early in the year the media claimed he was on the market because he had 2 yrs left on his current contract in his favour which said he could leave if he wanted. They tried to indicate he was leaving and instead he took the 2 yrs and extended haha. It is coming out again now to make out like we are over the cap. Hahaha
