Knocking up my century by saying. Lodge was so damn impressive in that trial match. Not just running but passing and support play as well. So freekin' pumped for 2 more weeks.

OK we get it. Everyone bar us are pissed we have stuck by Lodge and managed to get him to the starting line. Best we get used to hearing about his New York escapade as every time the media has nothing real newsworthy they'll regurgitate this over and over. You can almost feel the Bronco haters death riding him even before the season starts. Good luck Lodgey, your offloading game will keep us entertained all season if Saturday was any indication .

Well we all know what this means. Sydney is genuinely worried about how well we can perform this year.

If Lodge does end up going well, and is in line for Origin in the next few years, look for the tone to change about how hard he was worked, and how awesome the NRL is for allowing second chances.

Was just about to say the same thing... if he's dominating and inline for an origin gig all of a sudden it'll be a redemption story

“He (Lodge) is getting a second opportunity

I wish him all the best, and hope he succeeds.

But to be clear, this is really Lodge's 6th opportunity.

If he stays off the drink he'll be good. But if goes back hard on the grog - he will piss his life away.

Lodge's strikes:

1. Matt Lodge appeared in an under-20s State of Origin match with “c...” written on his strapping tape.

2. He was arrested in Sydney’s notorious Kings Cross following a fight outside a nightclub.

3. He was charged with common assault, malicious damage, stalking, intimidation and given an apprehended domestic violence order after a separate incident in Sydney.

4. He was banned from attending Penrith junior matches.

5. New York. The lawsuit against Lodge in a Manhattan court stated that he approached two women when they emerged from a taxi at about 4am on the Upper West Side.

“This is the night you die,” he told them. The women ran to an apartment block and buzzed the intercom of all 10 residents. When one of them, Joseph Cartright, came to the door, Lodge told him: “I’m going to kill you.”

He forced himself into Cartright’s apartment. The American’s wife, nine-year-old son and the two women were in there. Lodge grabbed Cartright in a headlock. Punched him in the head. The wife and child hid in the bathroom while Lodge smashed plates and glasses in the kitchen. He attempted to kick down the bathroom door.

When eight NYPD officers arrived, he threw a two-litre bottle of wine at them. They found the 193cm, 110kg giant hiding in a bedroom closet and arrested him at gunpoint. He was sacked by Wests Tigers.

It's fucked up what alcohol and drugs can make you do. I've had some pretty removed experiences and have known people to do similar things. Come to and sober up and you have no idea why you did what you did.

Prescription medication and alcohol is a deadly mixture. It killed health ledger and almost killed two rabbittoh players a few years back.

Why education and support is the best course of action for these young men out of their depths

1. Hardly a hanging offence

2. Was he charged with anything? Convicted? Was he even in the fight?

3. What was the incident exactly?

4. Why?

I won't try to defend number 5. An absolute **** act and I think he should have done a years jail for it, but what's done is done and he's a bronco now. Will be getting behind him and hope he has a blinder. Am genuinely curious about incidents 2,3, and 4 and whether it's a stretch to say that he's on his 6th chance..

The only thing that annoys me about this whole thing would be that if he went through a year in NSW cup and signed with a Sydney club he'd be a "great redemption story" and would be in a prime position for the fairytale storyline the NRL loves to bang on.

"From a 6x8 jail cell in New York City to starting at prop for the Sydney Roosters, we'll tell you more about this great redemption story after the break." - The Footy Show, probably.

Couldn't agree more. Young men being the two words I'd highlight, a lot of these nrl players that have fucked up are young men without guidance or mentoring. I think lodge is in the prefect environment to do good with his life especially with WB mentoring him. That's one thing money can't buy with coaches, WB seems to really care about the young fellas he trains and goes the extra mile. Lodge has a kid now and that is the turning point for most blokes that get their life on track so all the best to him.

Fight when he didn’t leave a nightclub.

Domestic violence over a week period.

Banned in same incident as Fifita brothers.
