I think the problem with this scenario this year is Broncos defeat Roosters away from home, and their reward is to face the minor premiers. Sure, it's at home, but it's a **** hard reward.

Mind you, in the gAyFL system, assuming the Storm got beaten by the Roosters and Broncos beat Warriors, the Broncos would still be facing Melbourne? Or Sharks (assuming Manly beat them)?

It is a hard reward, but in reality, this is the first time ever that 8 has beaten 1. It won't happen often. And also, Storm choked that game, they had multiple chances to win but they lost the plot.

The only real "losers" from the McIntyre system in 2008 is the Broncos or rather team 4 and 5.

Its not fair on the 7th and 8th place getters in the NRL system

It shouldn't be fair on seventh and eighth, they're the two lowest teams.
And why did the NRL change in 1996 from the old, and probably better, format to the McIntyre one? [icon_shru

AAh, they may be the two lowest teams but they still did enough work to get into the top 8 in the 1st place.
