I really hope Channel Ten get League. Channel 9 will throw everything at AFL if they lose League.

If say 10 get league... do the commentators go with them, does Rabs Vossy Gus and the other quit and go work for 10?

Dunno I think I would miss Rabs. I would even miss Gus, origin speeches wouldn't be the same with out him. Who has 10 got?

They are currently contracted to work for 9, so if their contracts are not up then they would need to negotiate a release from 9 to work for 10 - though chance are 9 would give the release as it's not like they can really use most of them for anything else. Though they might want to keep Rabs and Vossy as they are sports commentators first, footy commentators second so could be used elsewhere.
I wonder if 9 would continue with the NRL Footy Show/s

7's doing a footy show. If the ratings remain consistent and they have nothing more valuable to replace it with I can't see them dropping it, that being said if the main characters of the footy show go to ch 10 then they will probably drop it.Flutterby said:

But I agree, if the key players stay at the station they will probably continue to do the Footy Show even if they no longer have the NRL rights. I mean they have always done an AFL Footy Show without having the rights to the game.

IMO Ten's sports coverage is amateur at best, but the more bidders coming to the table, the better I spose.

Personally I want to see 10 get it. Only because I want to see 10 get it. As someone said - a fresh slate. I wouldn't mind. I think Rabs will retire from calling footy if someone else gets it though. 10 should be able to get 1 or 2. I hope they get GUS cause it won't be the same without him.
If 9 do keep it - I do want to see a revamp, though can't see a revamp being as interesting as a fresh structure. Regardless when is this new deal happening? A vital step for the NRL no doubt.

A new TV deal will most likely be well in negotiations some time late next year or we will likely have a good indication of what is likely to be the outcome of the deal. A billion dollar deal would be awesome for the game, it would allow the salary cap to be, literally, doubled or even tippled.
Also with a deal like that the NRL(or what ever it will be called) will be able to match the club grant to the level of the salary cap which will mean struggling teams can actually pay the full amount of the cap. The competition will be a hell of a lot stronger with a good salary cap, Gallop and his clowns cheated the game so badly with their terribly negotiated TV deal last time around, I'm dearly hoping they don't stuff up again.
