Ahhhhhh, just got home, no time to read the thread sorry. I think I left my voice at Olympic Park but I can still type YEEEAAAHHHHH!
I thought I might as well go to the game and join the Maroon Crusaders to witness this so-called "best Qld team ever" as some are saying live while I still have the chance, before some of them go their separate ways. I think I only really saw a few glimpses of what they're capable of, but it's also a measure of this team that they can play nowhere near their best for more than half the game and STILL WIN WOOOHOOO!
This Blues side got closer than the other 2 because they actually had a go and played some football, though aided by the Queenslanders who were frankly their own worst enemies for most of the 2nd half. NSW actually looked like they seriously thought they could win it for a while. But that defence, sensational! It looked pretty good from the southern stand, as did Boyd's try and Myles' dive over through a yawning chasm in the 1st half - even from the distance away it is at this pretty ordinary stadium. The Blues threw the kitchen sink at us for all that time and all they could come up with was that lonely sod-ordinary flukey try from a grubber kick. Still it put them ahead with not long to go. I just knew though that this was the cue for these champions to bring out the QUEENSLANDER! that had been missing for 30 minutes of yardage sets and kick, desperate championship defence and virtually no actual attacking football. So it was that like so many times before, when a bit behind with not long to go, the mighty Maroons showed why they've won 5 in a row. When we got that penalty (thanks again Ennis the Menace [icon_razz1 ) I've rarely been more sure that "we'll score in this set". Still it was worth it in hindsight going through the nervousness and frustration of letting them get ahead to experience the ecstacy of the BILLLLYYYYYY SLAAAAAAAAATEEERRRRRR moment!!! The Maroon Crusaders absolutely went off at that point as you'd expect. Then we finished it off and I looked around the place so glad to be there when for the 1st time since 1995 (far too long ago) we smashed them 3-zip!
Goodness knows how exhausted the players must have been playing the game, I'm buggered now just from yelling QUEENSLANDER for a couple of hours.
Just 1 thing left to say, just what I've said 100 times already tonight - WOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
