Nothing to back this up but my peepers, but when I caught the end of an interview with Scott Anderson, he was wearing a training singlet, but it had a big fat audi logo on it - which is awesome, finally some prestige sponsorship for the club - at this bodes well for our club, though under the new reformed structure of the comp, cronulla will benefit - still good for us

yeah cant see nothing on the Sponsers section of the site. suprised its not announce. Plus with Toyota being a major sponsor.

what does cronulla or new commission have to do with the sponsorship of the broncos?

The money is shared around between the clubs.

Really? so the money we do so well to make...cronulla gets a share in? thats fucking bullshit. **** cronulla.

Isn't it the money the NRL earn from TV deal , SOS etc. get spilt up 16 ways and given to the clubs in grants and the clubs individual profits stay with the club? So our sponsorship with AUDI would have no positive effect on any other club.

Perhaps. I could have read it wrong.

I understood it the same way as Smiley. Makes no sense that everyone gets an equal share of everyone else's sponsorships. That would give no incentive to clubs to actually get out there and get their own sponsors - just sit back and wait for the successful clubs to bring the money in. Same way some clubs don't do any junior development - they just sit back and wait for the other clubs to develop players and then buy them once they are developed.

Sponsorships, no. But merchandise sales, and profits therefrom, get shared between the clubs equally. Which is a bit harsh since the Broncos sell by far more merchandise than any other club. Yet the profits from merchandise get split.

Is that the currently deal (News limited) or Independent Commission??

That's how it works now (or it did a few years ago when I was working with the Broncos and they explained how shit worked).

the only thing that gets shared between clubs is TV revenue... sponsorship, ticket sales, merchandise, and pub raffle money all still belong to the individual club... the independent commission is not a Marxist revival...

merchandise sales are split down the middle with the NRL i think... because of branding etc...

Well you're wrong about merchandise sales in the current model. Whether that changes in the new commission, not sure.

i edited my post as you replyed... I remember hearing something similar to what you said but i thought it was only split 50/50 with the nrl, not clubs... dunno what the NRL does with it...

Ah ok. It's something weird like that. The clubs get X% directly, the rest goes to the NRL and it gets split 16 ways. So there's still some advantage to being the highest selling merchandise club, but it's not a dominant advantage.

This is the problem. I don't think the NRL should be a communist organisation trying to make sure it's a level playing field financially. Clubs should live and die naturally IMO.
