New team in NRL

The Crushers were given ample opportunity to perform. When you begin with deception and subterfuge, mix in incompetence, add a touch of petty jealousy you end up with the Crushers. They deserved their fate, however the players remain blameless. Unless of course some knew the details and did'nt allow them to become public.

Brisbane fans would have embraced an honest structure. It was an attempt to 'cash in' on the back of the Broncs courage. When the QRL saw the money they were producing and the fan response they tried to steal some for themselves. To think they were offered the chance to do it first (three times they were given this chance) but declined because they lacked courage. The financial backing was always in place but they had no heart. The fans saw their (serious)petty attempts to put roadblocks in the Broncs way for what it was.

The QRL lashed out at the Broncs, like a petulant child. They almost seemed to be the NSWRLs lapdogs.

Glad they sunk.

Judging by another one of your posts, I think everything you say has a bit of a crazy spin on it. Ample opportunity? So perhaps we should kick the Warriors out?

Wouldn't want to be in a team that beat them at home. [eusa_eh

The answer for expansion is simple.. promote Wynnum to the NRL [icon_razz1

(and disturbing)

Not sure Nashy about the connection to the Warriors !.....make the link if you'd be so kind. Not sure if you remember but the Crushers started with a bang, drew reasonable crowds then dwindled away until they were virtually insolvent. It was only QRL money propping them up.No-ones fault but their own. It's true NZ teams have also struggled but have always enjoyed support in NZ and in Sydney, not so much in Qld.

They had 3 seasons....16th ( 20 team comp )...followed by last followed by last....for a team that had the full support of the QRL AND the ARL(who were supporting them financially as well) it was a monumental ****-up.

Crushers failed because they made decisions like hiring Garrick Morgan on 200 k a season( he played 2, yes 2 games for them)..at the time enormous money for a player with no league experience. I felt sorry for the players but do not miss the deceitful Crushers. Was sorry to see a few other teams go down the gurgler too, most notably the Rams/Mariners and the Perth outfit.( not forgetting the solvent Coast team )
