Next Skipper?

Hopefully Thurston is the next Broncos skipper when Lockyer retires

No way would I give the captaincy to Wallace. He goes MIA to much to be considered.

Hate to break it to ya there kemosabe but about a month ago Hunt signed with the new Gold Coast AFL team starting from 2011 but will likely be playing rugby next year. It was all over the news and stuff.... kind of a big deal. Don't really know how you could have missed it.

haha could be a smart arse back but wont :P

i did indeed mean Ben Hunt

Ohhh Ben Hunt, I get ya. Yeah I'd prefer to develop Ben Hunt than get Thurston as well. Let's hope he turns into our next superstar.

i reckon confidence is the biggest thing for BHunt. on Sunday he looked unsure as to what he was doing. watched him the last few minutes and he kept swapping sides like he wasnt sure what play he wanted.

I hope i saw it wrong and he was just looking for the hole

Let's all keep in mind BHunt is only 19 or 20. Like front rowers, I don't think halves really come of age until mid-20s when they've got the experience and instinct of what play is right for the situation. Hence why he needs a season as an understudy, but playing first grade every week.

I know there's people who disagree with the concept, but I think he has to be our bench utility along with 3 forwards. Locky's not getting any younger so I'd be inclined to give him a rest in the last 10-15 of most games (except the big games where it might still be tight), plus allow Hunt to replace McCullough at hooker if required.

There's only so much Hunt is going to learn playing Q Cup. He's learnt all he can in under 20s.

well i was chatting to Bhunt on good ole facebook and he did tell me he would like to play Hooker at some point. So your onto something there Coxy.

Have to agree Hunt needs to be on the bench in 2010

For me, Thaiday has to be next in line for captain, he has the experience, appears to be well liked and respected by the other players and is a favourite with many fans. The only other option I can imagine would be Parker, but I just don't think that he would inspire/lead the players around him like Sam would. But perhaps by the time Lockyer hangs his boots up one of the younger players (ie. Glenn) will be capable of taking over the position. Time will tell, but my vote is with Sam.

So you want a smart, cool-headed, motivated, well-liked player who puts in his all every game to be captain? Then I would say Nick Kenny would be your answer!

Yeah, Kenny would be a great choice. Fantastic off the field, and is settling into a forwards leader role quite nicely. s

Say if Lockyer retires in 2011, I'd love to see McCullough get the role.

If say Lockyer retired tomorrow, I'd give it to Hodges. He inspires his troops better than anyone I've seen this year at the Broncos.

I mean just take a look at Yow Yeh. Outside Folau he was a joke...outside Hodges and he's a f**king monster!

LOL I am probably the only person here who thinks this way but I find Kenny massively over-rated. There is no way I could see him being any good at origin and no way I want him as our next captain.

Yeah well it's not the first time you've shown you have NFI :P
