I know this forum has a wierd obsession with backup hookers so I suggest that Nikorima gets the #14 gig over Granville.

God no. Dont waste another halves talent by playing them at 14. Nikorima at 6 with granville at 14 or McCullough to play 80.
And I guess this whole season can be a trial to see who plays alongside Milford in the halves, because surely he wont be played as a utility for us.

Nikorima to at least get a start at 6 .... with Strasser as a backup option.

So I guess reality has sung in and the calls for Granville to replace macca for 80 have disappeared lol

With our improved fitness Macca has to play 80mins for mine. This will allow us more impact off the bench.

A bench with the following;
14. Kennedy
15. Hala
16. Gllet / Glenn
17. Oates

Looks a lot better then
14. Granville
15. Hala
16. Kennedy
17. Gillet / Glenn

Macca not playing 80mins means that either Hala or Oates IMO will miss out. We need impact off the bench and go forward.

Im not saying that should be the bench for round 1 but I'd assume that Kennedy and either Gillet or Glenn will be on the bench. The other two spots will be up for grabs. I'd love to see Hala improve on his fitness and get a good run. That leaves one position left. I'd rather oates get that spot then either Stag or Lowrie.

Macca was the stand out Hooker of the 9's in my opinion. He looks faster and fitter than ever before. Sure it was shorter games but the Broncos lost go forward and a lot in defence whenever he was off the field.

I also really liked Macca's kicking over the weekend.

I say Macca for 80 with Hook giving allowing him to play what is in front of him instead of to a set a game plan pass one out+Hit up x5 then pass to kicker and repeat.

Hala?

Pfffft.

Like I said if Hala has improved his fitness over the off season then he could be a real weapon off the bench.

Who would you rather.....? Hala, Stag or Lowrie...? I cant see anyone else being picked ahead of those guys.

Is this the 3rd or 4th offseason where we have trotted out the "If only Hala could improve his fitness" line?

Sadly, we don't have time for pet projects anymore.

I thought this was only his 1st full off season. I'm pretty sure he was coming back from some bad injuries the past couple of years.

Anyway I'm hoping Corvo has him fit and ready to fire. We will soon find out.

You still didnt answer my question....? Who would you rather out of Hala, Stagg or Lowrie. Because Hala for 10mins will be far more effective then stagg or Lowrie will be for 30mins IMO. We have backrowers who can play 80mins. We dont need backrowers on the bench.

Can Hala even last 10 minutes? I seem to remember him struggling quite early on in his stints with getting back onside in defence. He becomes a liability around the ruck.

Macca can't play 80 and we shouldnt want him to, a hooker off the bench can change a team's momentum and gets the best of the starting hooker who doesnt have to preserve his energy, 80 mintues hurts his game more than it gains. No young hooker plays 80. Of the 16 teams only 6 have 80 minute hookers with Luke being the youngest and only two teams in the whole comp dont have a back up in their team every game.

cowboys- thompson & mitchell/king
Titans- Srama & Falloon
Knights- Gidley & clysdale/hilder
Dragons- Rein & Carvey
Sharks- Morris & De Gois
Manly- Ballin & Buhrer
Paramatta- Peats & ? (Peats cant play 80 though)
Penrith-Kingston & Segeyaro
Tigers- Farah & Fulton
Souths- Luke
Roosters- Friend & Mortimer
Bulldogs- Ennis
Raiders- Mccrone & Butriss/baptiste
Storm-Smith & hinchcliffe
Warriors- Friend (had taylor until his move to Penrith)

Granville has a place on the bench already.

McCullough is 24 years old with 125 NRL games under his belt.

Let me know when he's not a "young hooker".
