NRL 2022 Round 4 Discussion

**** the panthers. Fucking hate them, arrogant pricks.

But you know what, they deserve to be arrogant. There's nobody close to them in this current game the way it is.

Everything about them. They get under your skin, they milk penalties, they are offside every single play daring the ref to blow a penalty. But guess what, on the one they do give away, who cares, you'll struggle to score on them anyways.

Dylan Edwards is outstanding. The stuff he and some of the unsung Panthers forwards do to let the halves/Kikau etc shine, is worth every penny of what they are paying them.

Can't see anyone stopping them.

They won't really need to worry about the salary cap if they have smart people at the club, which they do. They will just do what Storm have done for many years. Build a side around a core group of players.

They have a strong junior base and they have more and more talented youngsters coming through.

They are in a very very good position.

Exactly. They're also in that golden zone where players will take less to stay, purely for the success.

I think they will lose a few tbh. They already have a couple of important players going. They wont be able to hold on to players like May either who is doing well, behind To',o and out of contract i dont believe. They have already lost their best young half they have coming through in Katoa to the Phins.

The problem is going to be for them they have a young side, so the other younger guys coming through will see their paths to first grade blocked just like Katoa did. I dont see them doing what the Storm did. They built their system based on the spine and filled it out with rejects from other clubs.

I think they have a few that will that are fairly close, but money will always talk. Players these days have become pretty smart at maximising their contracts. I reckon they will keep a fairly strongish 17, but its their depth when i think they will get caught out. As i was saying before, having a young side gives them a lot of longevity, but it is also a negative in some ways because other young talent isnt going to see a path to first grade.

As long as Penrith keep the core, 1,6,7 & 9 and keep being able to bring through youth around that, as well as pick ups like SO'S who, in place of Cleary looked solid and kept them ticking, they'll be there or there abouts.

The spine is incredible.

Can't agree. They've been damn near unbeatable for 3 years in a row now.

They have been good, but i do think the new rules will even the playing field more. The teams at the top last year had huge helping hands from that rotten 6 again rule. Now its changed thankfully we arent seeing the blowouts.

Apisai has signed with the Tigers next year, so they've lost one spine player. Cleary, Luai, JFH and Yeo are all signed until 2024+

Closest average winning margin over the first 3 rounds in the NRL since 98 or something I read.

Everyone still hates the Broncos anyways, the only thing thats changed is level of performance.

Nothing wrong with aspiring to be the best. Can hate the hell out of them but still respect what they are doing/have done.

I'm not sure hate is the right word...

Its more like "what the **** happened to the Brisbane Bronco's????"

I was sure you guys were gonna flog the Cows last week, not the other way round.

Our issue is we have the real prospects everywhere except the spine. So we have some real weapons but no idea how to use them. Our coach is a great, great bloke but not great as an actual coach and we have the key spine kids coming through but the challenge is constantly keeping them. Imagine how much better our team would be with Walsh and Walker in it for example.

I’ve seen and been apart of most of the “unforgiving” levels in different fields, shit falls apart when that shit creeps in.

In saying that, I wasn’t in the business of sport So I could be way off, but arrogance, leads to complacency.

they’re the champs and deservedly so. maybe once they get called offside inside the 10….things might get difficult. Because from what I see they’re still living offside and it’s the basis of them stopping all momentum.

A bit like the cowboys last week, against us.

who’s knows what narrative the nrl choose next?

Penrith have surprised me with their fast start to the season but September is an awfully long way off.
Defending premiers often carry such great confidence that they seem unbeatable at first, but give it time, they get worn down. There are exceptions of course. I'll wait to see how they look after Origin before changing my view that they cannot go back to back.

Cowboys played their best game in years. That is the best game they've had without a JT, and those mother fkers saved it for the game we were favourites.
