The judiciary doesn't rule on sin-bins that's for the bunker to decide.

But it’s on report right? That is what I mean will be up for debate in terms of careless/reckless/dangerous etc

"* Foul Play - A player will be sin binned for foul play in circumstances where, in the opinion of the referee, the act of foul play is of a serious nature, but does not warrant sending off. Acts of foul play of a serious nature include:

I guess you could argue it wasn't direct contact.

If they go for shoulder charge though,

(I don't reckon it is but his arms are down by his sides when he makes contact.)

Last I’ll say on it because I don’t care that much other that I think a penalty sufficed.

Direct contact was clear as day shoulder so direct tackle to head is out.

It wasn’t foul play.

Maybe grade 1 or 2 careless, don’t know and don’t care as we aren’t playing parra next

No consistency though from the bunker or the match officials. Herbert clearly hit Opacic high, and nothing was given. Then he back slammed the same player into the ground causing his head to forcefully hit the floor and again, nothing given. If they are going to argue for player safety, they have to be consistent.

Apologies, I honestly don't remember the high shot. On the back slam... Admittedly, I was a bit annoyed we were behind by 14 so was happy someone was putting shots on at least. Looked bad though. Only felt bad at the time because I actually like Opacic. If it was Moses I'd be watching it on repeat.

It was very early in the second half and he hit him high in the in goal area after Gutho and Tommy let the ball bounce.

What’s your take on the titans so far @The Don ? Am guessing par score would be 1 more win?

Must have been stressful games, could easily have been 5 wins as much as 5 losses so far.

Titans have got a tough next 4 games...

Manly away
Cows away
Panthers home
Roosters away

Can see them losing all of those... they should win the cows game, but heading up to nth qld is never a great away game.

There aren’t really many easy games for teams in the bottom 8, even Tigers and Bulldogs are not gimme’s.

I feel, even next against Manly, Titans are due to win big or lose big…these come from behind close back and forth games aren’t sustainable I would think

Definitely not a fan of the "Deliberately concede a penalty to then launch a Captain's Challange over your last bum call, ref!" move, but, like gang-tackling, etc etc, if the NRL won't say NO YOU CAN'T DO THAT, why wouldn't you have a shot? That's part of a coaching team's job: Look at the rules and exploit the shit out of them As. Far. As. Possible.

Titans look like they might be nuisance value, but not much more. They might get one or two against a Top 8 team...Shit, since it's Sunday morning, I'll be egotistical enough to say the Warriors will be one of those Top 8 teams, so they got one of their two against us, but I can't see their 2022 getting too much better.

Fully expect the Tigers to be 0-5 and the Panthers to be 5-0 after tomorrow...

That's a different kettle of fish.

As it pertains to the sin-bin it's forceful contact to the head. Paulo is actually lucky that Brimson didn't drop further and he hit him flush in the head, it would have been in the realm of a send-off.

It's not whether or not the MRC will cite Paulo or whether he'll serve time, it's whether the bunker continue to rule that way. I know it isn't popular among fans because we like to see the big hits but if players clip the head they'll run the risk of leaving their team a player short.

But they did last week after the Turpin situation. Annesley said that was the correct interpretation and labelled the South Sydney example as a wrong call. The referee tonight got it wrong on both occasions. The Titans shouldn't have been allowed to challenge but then again they shouldn't have had to in the first place.

NRL is so much about mentality nowadays.

Tigers look every bit the wooden spooners, but if you catch them on a Sunday arv game at Leichardt they could give you a towelling up. They could very well turn up and be absolute shite.

I don't think it's sustainable to rely solely on being up for a game, as we've shown in the two games prior to this week, and the top teams (panthers, storm, etc.) don't have to because they can fall back onto their structure.

For them it's basically just if you turn up and do your job we will win... but with us it's like if you turn up and do your job we MIGHT be able to GRIND our way to a win. It becomes hard to be up every game if that's the outcome, but that's what the bottom 8 teams have to do to maybe get a win, because we don't have the talent to guarantee a win.

I don't really care that much about the deliberate penalty can be a sin bin... I think they could've made a stand with tonight's game and binned Herbert though.

I think if you get a tug on the shirt, but there's zero impact on the play then no penalty... guys are competing for the ball all the time... they could've drawn a line in the sand tonight and gone "there's interference on the play, but it has no bearing on the play therefore unsucessful"... Herbert gets binned... and then every player and coach in the league is like "shit we have to be absolutely certain it's a successful challenge otherwise they're going to the bin"

Now that they've given that penalty every coach and player is like "wait if there is literally any indiscretion that I know is a penalty I can just give away a penalty and get it overturned"

The NSWRL will obviously overreact and make a change to limit what teams can challenge and it will become so restricted that we will end up with the previous crap where garbage referee calls can't be overturned and we may as well not even have the captain's challenge anymore.

You only get one challenge the whole game, so just let the team use it whenever they think a foul play is involved. Simple fix.

They should also limit the bunker replays to 2 repeats for each camera angle max, so we’re not waiting all day for a decision. Some bunkers will look at just one replay then call it. Other times they will totally over analyze. If you can’t make a decision after two reply’s, it goes back to ref’s call.

He has the talent but he’s either lazy and deliberately not putting himself in a position to receive the ball, or just terrible at reading a game and knowing where to be both on defense and attack.

I don’t think they’ve created any set pays specifically for him or the team hasn’t been told to feed David whenever you can. If they had, Herbert would have / should have feed David for that try in the finals which would have won them the game.

David suffers from Warriors syndrome.
