CROSS FORUM NRL 2023 Round 7 Discussion

Storm just not holding the ball. So mistake ridden.

Hahahah... no fucking way... that is bunker doing some game management right there.

No way in hell he was trying to strip that... it was last tackle and storm were in shambles

Thats an absolute gift to the Storm that call

TBH, that put down by Manly looked sus as hell anyways.

They make that call... but Kiks wasn't stripping the ball a couple weeks back. NSWRL can't even hide their influence and manipulation across a game

What happened to "stripping motion" when it comes to those calls

Hughes was still touching that after the strip.

Manly have been grounding it like that since Lyon invented the torso rule

Munster taking a dive for a bump there... he knows if he stays down old mate gets binned ... he jumped straight to his feet when the ref blew time off

I reckon he was just winded more than anything. Players are staying down way too much though i agree.

What happened to the "onus is on the carrier to look after the ball" that they trumpeted this year. I have seen that strip get ruled the opposite at times this year

No way... at least the storm messed that up

It's been a thing for well over a decade. I'm sure @Big Pete will remember what I'm talking about but I believe a player was seriously injured being dragged back and the ref didn't call held which was controversial and led to what we see in modern day.

My mind is thinking John Skandalis but I don't remember the exact incident only that it was a specific incident that caused the rule change.
I believe it was a Wests Tigers winger, Fitzhenry? Regardless, I remember it because it saved Queensland in the 2006 decider. NSW drove Wesser back into the in-goal and he lost the ball. Sterlo immediately referenced the change in rule change.

Just watched the Origin clip again - Fitzhenry broke his collarbone against the Warriors in Round 11.

He clearly grounds it right in front of the ref. Why is this even being checked.
