Going to be terrifying tackling Tom Turbo now.
Steve Matai to come out of retirement.

Exactly ... there's no way a halfback or important spine member is going to lie down early on if it means he's off the field for 5-10mins and costing his team.I was listening to a Superleague podcast ( i'll try to find which one it was and link it ) and apparently last year because of players staying down there was a behind closed doors meeting with the RFL and the teams and they basically got told if diving carried on into this year players were going to be taken off for 5 mins and it would be classed as an interchange if the injury wasnt legit. Dont know how they were going to police that, but there has been very little diving this year so far.

They'll do it if it's absolutely necessary to get their team the win, but they're not doing it 3mins into the game like what's happening at the moment
Also they should still be sent to the injury bin even if it's not a penalty... so it becomes a lottery if they get a penalty or not in the first place, but they still go to an injury bin regardless.Having the risk of it actually costing an interchange as well is massive.

Sadly, it’s a far better comp to watch these days. Big hits get rewarded, not penalised. Dives aren’t accepted as much and the crowds are better. Sure the standard is ‘lower’ but decisions are far less of a lottery. And the commentators are so much better.
Tbf, They still have the issue at the moment similar to the NRL where some of the bans are decided by the seriousness of the injury.

Wonder if he's tried to change his running style to avoid another hamstring injury and jn doing so created another issue?
Luke Metcalf at warriors atm is going through something kind of similar where he's done his hamstring a few times now so they're trying to adjust his running style so it doesn't keep happening
Annercelery has said the outcome of a hip drop is important - there you have it - the NRL are admitting they make their judgments based on injury, every player has just been given even more of a licence to dive.
Is it really so much to ask to have some competent people in NRL officialdom?

TMM breaks a leg in a hip drop… crickets…
Smash em bro
I thought Paix milked it by grabbing his knee when the Para player fell on his leg . He seemed fine once the whistle was blown .
That’s not what happened at all, in fact it was basically the opposite. He grabbed the back of his leg (not his knee) for a second but got straight up and played the ball. The ref blew the penalty into the next play.I thought Paix milked it by grabbing his knee when the Para player fell on his leg . He seemed fine once the whistle was blown .
Good thing Paix didn’t dive then.Agreed, I hate diving with a passion, especially when my own team does it but this is what awful officialdom has led to.
That wasn't his point in that instance.Annercelery has said the outcome of a hip drop is important - there you have it - the NRL are admitting they make their judgments based on injury, every player has just been given even more of a licence to dive.

Are you sure it was a hip drop ?
I remember watching it at the time and it seemed pretty innocuous .
Next thing he`s off with a broken leg .
