Ikin did mention that the Panthers were off their game, so yeah, clearly blind.

Look, maybe they've got Kev or a Broncos player coming on tomorrow night or something and are waiting to talk about the game then. I just don't understand how it's gotten almost zero discussion at all. They'd have dedicated a whole segment to it if we'd been belted by 30.

That's right, the guy who got penalised and binned gets a fine. The guy who gets three weeks, not even a warning in game.

In what will come as no surprise to anyone, Radley has had his charge downgraded despite history and loading to a fine and is free to play this weekend.

he'll have to schedule an extra round of golf against uncle Nick 😉

Let's play the Price is Right, Gold Coast Titans edition.

Ball park figures.

1. AJ Brimson ($500,000)
2. Anthony Don ($200,000)
3. Brian Kelly ($200,000)
4. Patrick Herbert ($200,000)
5. Corey Thompson ($200,000)
6. Ash Taylor ($1,000,000)
7. Jamal Fogarty ($500,000)
8. Jarrod Wallace ($400,000)
9. Mitch Rein ($300,000)
10. Moeaki Fotuaika ($300,000)
11. Kevin Proctor ($300,000)
12. David Fifita ($1,300,000)
13. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui ($700,000)

14. Tyrone Peachey ($800,000)
15. Sam Lisone ($200,000)
16. Jamin Jolliffe ($100,000)
17. Erin Clark ($100,000)

18. Phillip Sami ($300,000)
19. Herman Ese'ese ($300,000)
20. Tanah Boyd ($200,000)
21. Sam McIntyre ($200,000)
22. Toby Sexton ($200,000)
23. Beau Fermor ($200,000)
24. Jai Whitbread ($100,000)
25. Darius Farmer ($100,000)
26. Greg Marzhew ($100,000)
27. Treymain Spry ($100,000)
28. Jonus Pearson ($100,000)
29. Sam Stone ($100,000)

$9.3 Million

Now those are ball-park figures and I can see a few of those contracts being more like 220K or 130K so I could see that being around $400,000-$500,000 so just enough to squeeze in a cheap minimum wage player.

Ash Taylor, Tyrone Peachey and Mitch Rein are off contract. David Fifita's contract also goes down to $1,100,000 in his second and third year, so that gives them $2.3 Million to play around with. Factor in the impending retirement of Anthony Don and I can easily see them having $2.5 Million to splash around.

It was lucky they got the $650,000 and $700,000 scrubbed off their salary cap.

Wallace, Proctor and Ese'ese were all poached from other clubs who were keen to retain them, and the players had no real motivation to leave besides better money. I'd say they'd be on a bit more than that.

Wallace we wanted to retain but not on massive money (like the Titans apparently offered). Proctor was a Storm forward, they only leave if they are able to get a better deal. And Ese'ese came from us originally, we weren't looking to break the bank but the Knights outbid us, and again the Titans were offering more than the Knights were at a point in his career he was in the starting 13 and starting to look okay.

A couple of explanations.

Brimson re-signed in 2019 when the Gold Coast were absolutely struggling and Brimson had issues with his back. I could see $500,000 being one of the best offers on the table.

Kelly wanted to return to the club after being released by Manly. I could see him signing a relatively modest deal.

Fogarty would have been on $100,000 last year but he re-signed in the off-season. I could see the club offering him the captain's package where he's well paid and shown plenty of confidence since he has to do all the extra work. I can't see them under-paying their captain and goal-kicker.

Mitch Rein was offered one of those Garth Brennan deals which was enough to get him out of Sydney but not ridiculous money.

Kevin Proctor was off-contract last year, didn't receive a ton of interest on the market so he took less to remain on the Gold Coast. This is one of the more generous estimates, but I'd say he's on around half his last deal with the view that the Gold Coast are finally getting their money's worth.

Tino Fa'asuamaleaui knocked back a 675,000 deal from the Warriors so I'm going to guess he got paid slightly more and live closer to home.

Peachey only signed because of the money and immediately regretted the decision. I could be getting carried away here, but I feel like it was one of those Jack Bird 'we've got money in our pocket let's go crazy' type deals.

ZeroTackle does have Wallace on $600,000 but also has Tyrone Peachey on the same amount so I'll call that even. I had him on $400,000 because while the Broncos were happy for him to stick around they only saw him as a bench player. That suggests to me the Broncos offered him around $200,000 while the Gold Coast offered nearly double that a year before the salary cap deal had been finalised so that was great money.

I could see an argument for Ese'ese on $400,000 but he had been in and out of first grade for awhile and the Knights did go out and sign Tyson Frizell on good money so I could see him being squeezed out.

zero tackle have Jarrod Wallace and Tyrone Peachey both on 600k

Its probably the old Roosters "sign them for $300K and free up $600K when they leave" trick.

32. Andrew McCullough ($200,000)
33. Joe Ofahengaue ($200,000)

$9,700,000

I think it highlights how hamstrung the club currently is with their roster and why Seibs was going to such great lengths to move players on. It also explains why the Broncos had to make such modest signings because they really can't afford to splurge.

I reckon Dearden is already on good money, at least more money than he's currently worth. I think the club was desperate to sign him and he's on the higher end of his deal which is when the club really expected him to kick on.

Croft originally was on a subsidised deal so he was great value last year. However now we've got the full freight plus the captain's package which is what Seibs had in mind. I could honestly see this being $600,000 he's not cheap and he really was Seibs' big gamble.

I believe Seibs went overboard and did sign Lodge, Pangai, Flegler, Carrigan and Ofahengaue on big coin. I think think this is largely why the roster is in the state that it's in because the coach went crazy on the forwards instead of making tough decisions. I don't believe Flegler is on $600,000 like it's been reported but it's more like $450,000 which is massive overs.

Glenn I'm going to say is on relatively little since he had minimal interest and he loves the club.

If Dearden's on 300k I can see why the club is making him show something before they offer him a new deal, as it would certainly have to be an upgraded contract given there are other clubs interested

On player contracts, is Vlandys a Roosters supporter? Or is Politis somehow involved with him financially?

I’m just wondering how they get away with so much questionable salary cap work, like SBW coming back for about minimum wage, the Warriors not being able to afford Perenara but they can take him for 130k and Suaalii going there because of cultcha despite fielding offers up to 1 million. Not to mention Crichton, Teddy and Keary all staying for significant unders because they ‘don’t want to be anywhere else.’
