PRE-GAME [Round 18, 2026] - Broncos vs Sharks

And when we are talking about hooker attack, how many times do you see Paix pass to a ball playing lock, who then passes it to a half then to Walsh?

By the time the lock gets the ball to the half or Walsh gets the ball, the defense is in their face.

If you want to fix Paix's attack from the ruck, literally just cut out the ball playing lock.

How many times did Haas get a bullet pass from Mozer in last night's game (And Patty in previous games) , and tried to ball play out the back to Walsh or Duffy/Bunt, and the attack just gets shut down. Staggs and Arthars have literally zero space to beat the defender.

And we literally won a GF with Paix at hooker?

Literally, we get most of our tries when Paix is on the field...
You might want to sit down for this. We get most of our tries when he’s on the field because he’s on the field more than any other hooker. His involvement in those plays are minimal. Even Andrew McCullough has a highlight reel or two. Paix just slowly shuffles it on.

Deine Mariner is on track for a return to the NRL alongside five injured teammates. Mariner has been recovering better than expected.

Patrick Carrigan, Deine Mariner, Billy Walters, Adam Reynolds and Ezra Mam are all aiming for a return next week against the Sharks.

Because he's always on the ****ing field!!

Our attack is 12th this year... attributing it to Paix is not a flex
I'd say the reason we scored more points when Paix was on had more to do with the fact that the Roosters ball handling and discipline in the first half was pretty shit. How quickly things turned around once they held onto the ball.

Our season is over and it's time to start giving a few younger players a run. Our biggest problem seems to be our running the ball out of our own half and I put that down to poor service from dummy half. It was quite noticeable last night that the moment Paix was off and Mozer was on that our forwards could run at full steam onto the ball. No rocket science there, Mozer passes from the ground and Paix feels some need to stand and pass causing our forwards to either have to check their run or receive the ball with the defence right on top of them.

I read in an interview that Reece played all his football in the halves till he was 17 and then moved to fullback. This explains his poor performance in catching bombs and his positional defensive lapses. I think next year Duffy should start at 7 and Walsh gets a whole off season to adjust to being a 6.

Haas going is certainly going to hurt our go forward but what we won't miss is his passive defence. When was the last time you saw the biggest guy on the field actually bend his back and put a hit on someone? Haas catches and stands, calling it a tackle isn't right. While on Haas, the guy has signed elsewhere so time to use him as what suits us. If we're short on forwards play him for 70-80 minutes if required. If that burns him out that's a Souths problem not ours.

My team for next year:
1 ?
2 Kaparani
3 Staggs
4 Gagai
5 Mariner
6 Walsh
7 Duffy
8 Semu/P Riki
9 Mozer
10 Willison
11 Piakura
12 J Riki
13 Carrigan
14 Walters

Goski and J Hunt need to be dropped back to Q Cup where they belong.
And Mam who is on close to a million plays reserve grade an we can play the champion Perham at fullback?

Given Laurie Daley is a space cadet, do you think we could word into his ear that Paas is a hack and he’d be better off not picking him?

Not even Laurie Daley would be stupid enough to omit Haas.

Although he is stupid enough to pick him and leave him sitting on the bench for long periods of time

Season is done, so the one bright side is that I now don’t have to watch any more NRL at all to the year, can focus fully on other sports and just come here for the community.
Absolutely. See ya’s in the off season.

Time for some us aging BHQ members to give the younger guys a run

Sounds like Willison can apply for an exemption to play because he was Cat 2. We need as much help as possible to be honest.
