I'm looking forward to watching Ponga again this weekend. The sky is the limit for this kid and he is a Qlder to boot.
Agreed. Seriously, his stepping before the line is mesmerizing sometimes.

I don't buy that bull shit, there is no excuse for racism. Saying it was because he's passionate about his team is not taking responsibility for his actions and racially abusing someone has nothing to do with footy or a foot ball team. The scum bag was big enough to say it at the time so he's got to be big enough to own it now. A life ban sounds fair to meI agree it is bad and the guy should be banned - but in saying that I find this on the lower end of the racism pole. The guy is saying it because he is passionate about his team and because Greg Inglis is a good player. It's almost like a perverse respect thing.
It's not the same thing as someone being denied access to a pub for example because they are indigenous.
I'd give him a 5 year ban.

The only thing that bothers me about this "Life ban" thing is: we as a game are prepared to accept players back into the game after satisfying various behavioral improvements. Someone yells a racial slur and they're gone for good?I don't buy that bull shit, there is no excuse for racism. The difference is Lodge has taken responsibility and taken his punishment like a man not try to make soft excuses up. Racism is racism no minimising itI agree. There is no excuse. And he should be banned. But you then start to say - Matt Lodge can home invade a young family and be back playing within 4 years - but you are going to ban a peanut fan for life for some words.
Just saying people become hysterical at some cheap racist words.
Yeah I'd be happy with that actuallyThe only thing that bothers me about this "Life ban" thing is: we as a game are prepared to accept players back into the game after satisfying various behavioral improvements. Someone yells a racial slur and they're gone for good?
Why not give them a chance to sit a year out, work with indigenous organisations or something similar and atone for their misdeeds?
Are you seriously saying that is worse than what Lodge did?The difference is Lodge has taken responsibility and taken his punishment like a man not try to make soft excuses up. Racism is racism no minimising it
Definitely not saying that. What I'm saying the difference is that Lodge took his punishment with no excuse and owned his actions. This fan has made excuses and tried to minimise his actionAre you seriously saying that is worse than what Lodge did?
I haven't seen this. Where did you get this from?Definitely not saying that. What I'm saying the difference is that Lodge took his punishment with no excuse and owned his actions. This fan has made excuses and tried to minimise his action
Was it not said that he said those things because he's passionate about his team and Inglis is a good player?I haven't seen this. Where did you get this from?
I'm pretty sure they haven't even identified who it was yet.Was it not said that he said those things because he's passionate about his team and Inglis is a good player?
Oh ok. Hopefully he owns up to itI'm pretty sure they haven't even identified who it was yet.
I agree with everything you just said but what's with this "cheap racist words"? When dose it become serious racism? I'd class telling Inglis to go sniff some petrol pretty seriousLodge definitely deserves to be back - just saying there are often some hysterics surrounding cheap racist words.
Like Mal Meninga was saying this person should be banned for life. Yet he made submissions to the parole board for his murderer brother Bevan to be released from jail on parole - Like someone should be banned for life from watching NRL games for a racist slur but his brother should be released on parole for murdering a young woman?
I know the situations are different but Mal is often very hypocritical and all over the shop on issues. I just find his opinions on things completely ridiculous at times and clown-like.
Or you get made the 8th Immortal. What's the difference between a racial slur off the field and a racial slur on the field? One gets you a lifetime ban and the other gets you a fine and 10 years in the NSW team
I agree with everything you just said but what's with this "cheap racist words"? When dose it become serious racism? I'd class telling Inglis to go sniff some petrol pretty serious
It wasn't in the context of the foot ball game, it had nothing to do with it. When it comes down to it racism is racism and it all dose more damage then you'd thinkWell this is an idiot saying offensive stuff in the context of a football game when emotions are running high. Not as bad as say a bouncer denying entry to someone to a pub because they are Aboriginal, for example.
