Which one is worse?

I know the second one in its own right is bad but how on Earth does the NRL judiciary justify Prior getting 5 weeks for an intentional elbow to the side of the face of an opponent who is passing the ball so at worst should expect a bit of a bump rather than a full tackle or in this case a cocked elbow. On the other hand Travis Burns intentionally jumps up and whacks a guy aggressively with a swinging forearm, clearly will never do the same amount of damage and clearly no where near as dangerous or potentially damaging.

I just cannot fathom how Prior gets 3 times less than Travis Burns, he clearly IMO should have got more. The system is obviously stuffed and the whole shoulder charge-gate is another example there have been a flurry of chances for them to set a bench mark and then use that bench mark to punish the others instead we get inconsistent punishments like Vatuvei getting off Pritchard gets 1 week, Te'o gets 4 downgraded to 2 and Inglis gets 5? Seriously the whole system is stuffed.

Prior's hit, by about 1000. Burns just looks like any other short player jumping to make heavy contact with a bigger man, made worse by the fact Kennedy stumbled into it.

For one thing, Burns shouldn't have been sent off, and as for judiciary, Prior should've got 10 weeks, not the 5 he got. Burns should probably get 5 as it was undoubtedly reckless.

Judiciary/Match review/referees have got it completely and utterly wrong.

Burns left the ground to smash Young.

The Burns tackle was intentional.

The Prior tackle was bad, but I don't think he intentionally went out to hurt JT.

Intent is impossible to tell. I don't believe Burns intended to hit him in the head. He intended to put a big shot on. Kennedy fell into it, making it look MUCH worse than it was.

Prior hit Thurston flush on the head with the point of his elbow. That is the WORST thing you can do, beyond a spear tackle.

How did he not go out to hurt him? He had already passed the ball he raised an elbow and directed it at the side of his head whilst he wasn't looking. He wasn't running hard and straight at Prior and he didn't slip or fall into it, I think it is almost as bad as the Danny Williams punch, it was a disgusting attack and he should have missed at least 14 weeks.

Just like Burns didn't try to rip a players arm off with the chicken wing.

Also who the fack is Kennedy. :tongue_smilie:

Martin Kennedy. The guy whose nose Burns broke with that accidental high tackle.

There is no way that Burns deserves 12 weeks for that tackle. MRC is a joke, stuffed up the grading on T'eo earlier this year and denied him a chance to only have a week off instead of 2 because they had to take it to the judiciary. And now these charges for Inglis and Burns? I think they must just pull a grading from a hat.

It is about time the Judiciary had a clean out of personal and bring in a new crew and standard gradings from round 1 next year. I know I am bias to Souths but I have watched plenty of Souths players cop harsher gradings than other teams whose players don't get charged or the grading is low since supporting in 2004.

How many have been charged for sliding feet first when players scoring since Merritt a few years ago, after Slater was doing it every week? How many Cannonball tackles this year haven't been called since Issac Luke after they said they would stamp it out of the game? Masoe Moses got off from round 18 (Video of Cannonball)

Without going through them all, we get to this one. So far this year only Te'o has had the harshest grading and IMO correct grading of 2. The same grading Pritchard and a few others should have received.

Inglis and Burns are just being made scapegoats by the NRL to save face with the media backlash currently going on with the shoulder charge. I hope they don't ban it.

All they need to do is set in stone the grading for performing a shoulder charge that makes contact with the head and this grading can never change all year. That sets the standard for the year, players know the risks for performing one that goes wrong and fans know what the grading is and everyone is happy. No more of this Pritchard getting off, Te'o getting done and now Inglis getting even worse.

Can anyone remember Dwyer on Hargreaves a few years ago? I know it was a bit before they started their protecting the head campaign, IRC he got off.

I think Prior's was worse as that was late, cowardley and intentional (if anyone can tell me if he was sent off or sin-binned for that can you please tell me). Travis Burns' hit also was intentional but a 17 week ban is far over the top for me it's not even close to that 2 or 3 at the most. The only time I can recall someone getting a ban like that was former Melbourne forward Danny Williams for that king hit on Mark O'Neil, the stupidest thing I have seen in Rugby League. If anyone finds that can they post a link, would love to see it again.

Burns isnt getting 17 for the tackle.

- the tackle is 9 weeks early guilty plea, 12 weeks if he fights and loses.
- the chicken wing that he did earlier in the match is 4 weeks early guilty plea, 5 weeks if he fights (iirc, not 100% sure on that one)

put them together, at their maximum suspension, and voila - 17 weeks. IMO 12 is maybe a bit much, but there is no doubt that it was intentional so it NEEDS a lengthy suspension.

and Broncoman, yes prior was sent off.

Brent Tate intentionally punched Greg Bird. It was a love tap so no punishment.

Burns might've intended to hit Kennedy high. It was a pretty weak tackle. If it wasn't intentional it'd be lucky to get 2 weeks.

There's NO WAY it should be more than Prior's hit.

Priors hit wasn't far off love tap status. No follow through from the contact elbow.

Surely you jest. :001_rolleyes:
