I thought there was pretty well no chance of Ponga staying at Newcastle long term. I wish he was coming to Brisbane but if that's not happening then I'm glad he's staying in the NRL and the Knights are one of the more stomach-able teams for him to be with.

Stomach-able team or not, Newcastle are a waste of his talents.

1.1 is ridiculous money for him. So far he has shown to be nothing more than a great runner of the ball.
We’ll have long forgotten by then, but this comment in four years time, I’m just about certain is going to look as bad as the ones that wrote of Thurston in his early days. I think it’ll age like milk and I have almost no doubt whatsoever about that.

I tend to agree but there's one big factor that might stand in the way, something that Thurston, Smith, cronk, lockyer and all the greats have... a good attitude. There's been players with bigger wraps on them after their first year who didn't have the right attitude and quickly became forgotten.
I'm not saying ponga will become one of these, but his attitude hasn't screamed "future immortal" to me. I could be wrong because I don't see what he's like at training but he seems to have a poor on field attitude at times (gives up chases, has poor defensive positioning, poor contact/effort in defence, when physically and personally "challenged"by opponents he doesn't thrive on it). I don't blame him, if I received a big deal at his age and got constant wraps I'm sure I wouldn't have the drive and determination that is needed to be a great. I think ponga would have had a far greater career if he got advice from Haas' dad rather then his own, but he's still got time to fix this...

The Sydney Roosters have loaned the Warriors Poasa Faamausili from Sunday for the next four weeks of the competition.

Nrl:
"We wouldn't normally give a club cap relief when they loan out a player, but faamausili is so integral to the roosters and politis is a good guy so we will give 1 million relief to the roosters.... and 2 million to souffs just because"

He's playing for Valleys in the BRL.
Sounds like a bit of fun for him. Good on him. I doubt it's much more than that.
I remember cliff Lyon's played until he was 46 out west. Some players just can't get it out of their system. They're usually halves. You don't see too many front rowers doing that.

There was one old bloke I remember years ago played until he was 60 or something.

Looks like Melbourne might have had a long play with letting Croft go....they’re after dearden! Seriously what did the broncos expect? I really rated him last year and from what I’ve seen I don’t think Croft is that much better. Dearden is definitely better in defence.

I think we have room for both dearden and croft in the short term and I actually think we'll see then play together side by side come next season, assuming dearden keeps improving and Melbourne don't do a "Ben hunt" on us. If they do, so be it.

Dearden, Milf and Croft all off contract at the same time... they can make a decision on the long term halves then.

Melbourne also have a young gun half coming through... can't remember his name but I'm sure other on here would know a bit about him

I know I’m coming across as dramatic it’s just he’s the first prospect I’ve seen with us that seems to read the game really well and hasn’t got there just because he’s a physical freak or fast af...seems to have a genuine footy brain like Cronk.

Don't stress yourself by something that James Hooper made up.
