NRL Pre-Season Trials - Week 2

All 3 Broncos look fit as, great to see.
Impressed with Arthurs and Willison who looks confident and full of self belief.
Agree with Riki assessments unfortunately . He has regressed since 2023. He won't run aggressively at a hole, prefers the ball in hand before the line.
Our second row is def our shortcoming.
We desperately need Piakura to have a huge year this year and get somewhere near the expected potential ... he runs a great line, hits like a truck, is agile and even on his yardage carries has a step before the line to get between defenders.

Unfortunately his defensive reads are horrendous and he loses focus during the game... but some of these things weren't as noticeable in 2023 off the bench (were they even there?)... I'm hoping it was fitness related and a guy pushed into 80mins week in week out before he was ready for that responsibility.

He's a covid rookie so a lot of his development against men has been lacking... he's pretty much played all his footy in the last 2 years due to covid, headknocks and other injuries.

Fortunately, we have weapons everywhere else, so basically, as long as the 2rfs can defend, we'll be fine.

Hey is our trial on at 2pm or 2:30pm? I get conflicting times on the Broncos and NRL website
NRL.com is usually your best bet... they only provide the kick off time and it is adjusted to your timezone as well

kind of wish I was going to the trial today at toowoomba, last one I went there we got flogged 58-10. Sounds bad but we beat that side in the Grand final. Shit it's been that long?

It could be a long day today as well.

The only top 17 players from last year are Jensen, Mariner, Piakura, Billy, Smoothy and Kobe... and of that group Kobe looks the only guaranteed top 17 player this year, Jensen and Piakura look likely but appear to be dropping back to the bench.

Billy is likely the utility (especially with injuries), but is potentially dropping down the pecking order... along with Smoothy.

Shibasaki appears to be jumping head in the left centre race, which would see Mariner dropping back to Qcup with Arthars and Cobbo the likely wingers.

On the flip side Titans have named a near full strength forward pack (outside Tino and RCG) to start the game, Brimson, Jojo and Sami as likely starters in the backs, and Foran named as starting half, who shits on who we've got named in the halves, even though he is apparently shifting back to the bench.

On the bench they've also got guys like Klese and Pahulu, who are very likely to be in the top 17 come round 1.

It looks pretty close to full strength with Kini, Campbell, AKP and Kelly missing due to All Stars match, Tino due to recovery and RCG due to injury.

1. Kini (All Stars)
2. AKP (All Stars)
3. Kelly (All Stars)
4. Sami?
5. Jojo?
6. Brimson
7. Campbell (All Stars)
8. Fotuaika
9. Verrils
10. RCG (Injury)
11. Fifita
12. Fermor
13. Tino (Recovery)

14. Foran
15. Joliffe
16. Pahulu
17. Randall / Klese / Iszac F

Thats why in trials I'm less interested in the scoreline and more on how individual players perform and areas on the field we went well and where we didn't under our new coach.
