Monthly medal aka strokeplay this Saturday @ Ashgrove, so I'm hoping these lessons can help a bit. Been a few rounds since I hit sub 100 so hoping to get some consistency back.Putting and those short 30 to 40 mtr shots is where you will pick up a lot of shots.
When you find trouble off the tee if you can get to 40 mtrs or inside then get somewhere near the pin , say 3 to 4 mtrs or better, you give yourself a chance at par and take double bogie off the table.( most of the time)
Keep the updates coming mate.
I've played two comp rounds this week and playing Friday and Saturday. :-)
Golf Central is a good set up. I had a lesson there a while ago with one of the other pros.Josh Bevan at Golf Central
@Renegade I use Michael Lamana ( youtube) from about.com as my go to for my grip and swing basics.
I find it uncomplicated where as a lot of pros like to break your swing down and rebuild it and you have to keep forking out for $90 plus for lessons.
Over turning is a big thing when you're working your hip rotation. It's just about pounding balls at the range and finding the sweet spot before you can trust it on the course.Nice solid 115 today, those lessons sure helped a bunch lol.
Think I was trying too hard with the hip rotation, kept hooking shots. Back to the range this week.
It's very frustrating! I feel like 6 different parts all trying to align at once instead of just a normal smooth swing.Over turning is a big thing when you're working your hip rotation. It's just about pounding balls at the range and finding the sweet spot before you can trust it on the course.
Yep, all about the grind, and it's also insanely important to warm up on the range and work out the issues if you wanna score well. So often I'll not have time to warm up and hit some pills, and my handicap is already gone inside the first 4-5 holes, and feels like the rounds over before getting started. It's very frustrating! So I saw last time, +2 is fucking excellent.I haven't played in 5 years and going out to play this week. If I break 90 I'll be happy. My handicap is 8 but when I was practising heaps +2 was my best.
Short game is a massive must from 50 meters in, that's where the true scoring happens. I would spend hours pitching, chipping and putting. It's mostly about getting your rhythm right. So I saw last time, +2 is fucking excellent.
What did you do in terms of drills when you were a plus?
Where were you a member when off +2?I haven't played in 5 years and going out to play this week. If I break 90 I'll be happy. My handicap is 8 but when I was practising heaps +2 was my best.
Nice. Surprised GA allowed you a handicap of 8 after previously being +2. Did you get a medical exemption? When I came back from a 10yr+ hiatus I had to take my previous handicap, and they'd only manually adjust if I provided medical certs etc.Oberon golf club a small town in nsw. I have just become a member of oatlands in Parramatta.
