Look for what it's worth, I agree, I don't believe anyone walks away from effectively 1.5M, whether Bennett played him or not, he was still getting paid that money. He said don't worry about the cash, then apparently got an off field role worth 600k, which the NRL (I think...) said has to be included in the cap.
I think the main difference between the Souths / Tigers is they asked the NRL first rather than agreeing behind closed doors Farah would get a definite job if he hint-hint/wink-wink took a lower salary. The Tigers did what every other club does anyway except they had it in writing, which was dumb.
I don't like the NRL anymore than most but if he did retire by the books, there's nothing wrong with him going back and playing again. Now if Gillett or Burgess sign somewhere, we've got a real drama to cover.
