Yeah you can't carry both Brill and Vinny on the bench.

Who would you go for? Would you promote from within or bring in someone even possibly looking over in England? Butler from Knights isn't contracted for '25 and not sure if she's signed anywhere else. I feel like she would be good off the bench, big body and hard to stop.

I would be keeping an eye on that situation with Cowboys, as well. Talk of them moving to Cairns and apparently quite a few of the players aren't happy with that.

I don't know if we need anyone.

Might see Shalom debut next year - there'll be a few eyes on her after her perfomance for Ipswich SHS in the National Schoolgirls Cup final (amongst other achievements already):



She plays lock and is the first try scorer and goalkicker

A bit of a little wrecking ball - she's about Destiny Brill's stature so it remains to be seen how effective she'll be against the seasoned players and not schoolgirls, but she's already played Super W and if there's one thing she's got, it's drive and energy

She was on the development for this season but not sure what the situation is with her. I can't say I've seen much of her. If she stays on at the club is she someone that could make the step up? She seems to be highly rated.

Still at the club at this stage - she was there in on Sunday as part of the squad with the rest of the girls that didn’t play.

Possibly, I haven’t followed the wraps on her too much outside of by association with Keilee and haven’t watched any of her BMD, which she only started this year. She’s about the same height as Keilee (and she’s quite short compared to the tall forwards like Clark, Duzzi and Lafaele), but she’s a bit bigger.

She made 19s for a couple years straight but I think she’s a year or two away at least

Hicks is another turning 18 next year that they may look at moving into the team eventually to replace Rapana/Storchy if they move/call time after next year or so

Shalom has to be the next one though and we’ll probably see her next season, regardless of who we do or don’t re-sign

So the nominees for the Dally M Team of the Year have been revealed.

The nominees for fullback are Upton, Church and Berry.

For Maddick to not even be one of the players nominated is a disgrace. She was better than Church and Berry.

Upton is going to win it either way, she's the Nathan Cleary of the NRLW, but to not even be nominated and have less deserving players nominated over her... It's a joke.

Lenarduzzi not being nominated for Prop of the Year but having Elsie Albert nominated is a disgrace, as well.

I also think Keilee should have been one of the nominees for Lock of the Year. She had a great year and was a key part of our defence in the middle. But I guess that one isn't as bad.

Is Ruan Sims the one nominating players?

Robinson and Waka nominated for Winger of the Year, Hufanga centre, Gayle 5/8, Ali halfback, Jada hooker and Romy backrower.

Only reasoning I can think of is Church (somehow) scored 20 points, and Upton scored 19

Romy also remained top point scorer for the regular season despite only kicking at 55%

I reckon we’re bound to sadly lose some of our heavy New Zealand contingent to the warriors and Ratana has played there before. Just hope we keep Lafaele, I reckon she’s only going to improve.

Controversial call, but if we lose Mele I’m not too fussed. She’s awesome to watch but I think she’s a bit of a novelty in the centres a la Hurrell and Te Whare. She has her moments but I’d rather trade the flashes of brilliance for a physical yet athletic monster in the Biddle, wiki or Leianne Tufuga mold.

Shaniah and Brianna are best mates, so she’d be pretty excited to have her join us.

Personally I’m not sure on Shaniah, as she’s either dropped off due to injuries and inconsistency, and/or the rest of the comp has caught up - I mean Romy was still a fullback when Shaniah was a dominant second rower. That and she hasn’t played a lot of top grade footy recently - only averages 5 games a season for NRLW and 6-7 for BMD.

Maybe a change will do her good, and if she’s on the outer she might come cheap. She did play for the Warriors as well so they may look at her again.

re NZ girls, I think we’ll keep Gayle, Mele and Stacey for the upcoming season at least, but I think a couple will go back to end their careers at home, which you can’t begrudge them that.

Mele I think played injured for a lot of the latter half of the season, and combined with Waaka going down, that really hampered our go-forward when it mattered and Robbo and Dam were our only source of meterage from the back 5.

I think currently you take the 2 or 3 games where she scores 3+ tries and wins the game with the knowledge that might be all you get out of her for the year, but as the season continues to extend it might be something looking at going into 2026 and beyond.

15 a side Rugby should be easy enough to stave off. Not sure if she’s involved 7s.
