Origin Scheduling is a joke and a blight to the game.

Assuming hodges doesn't miss the majority of the season anyway, which he has done nearly every season of his career. Iirc 2012 would've been almost the year where he has played the most games in his career.

As for that Lockyer article, it's just another typical pr sports article not to be taken seriously. Gillett was rubbish all year, not just after origin. Te'o played even better after his one origin game. Thaiday was rubbish all year.

I think the most games Hoges played in a season was 24 in 2003 or something for the Roosters. It was mentioned the other day on the Roast (I think).

Hodges missed only like 3-4 games this year I think. Hopefully it's the same next year because our back line is a lot weaker without him.

Every article Lockyer has written is worthless rubbish. Phil Rothfield has more substance in his articles, lol.

**** me. Bit harsh on Lockyer wouldn't you think. You are essentially saying Lockyer's opinion is worth nothing.

Hodges ended up making 18 appearances, which is the 6th most appearances he's made in a season. In a regular season it's his 5th highest.

Gillett had a good start to the season and was pulling off some freakish plays. His form deteriorated after his Origin debut.

Lockyer's articles are standard ex-footy opinion pieces. Most of what he says is plain common sense.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Every article I've read of his looks like it's written by a politician, I used to read them but you can tell he doesn't say what he really thinks. He's always being too nice.

I know he's a very smart person in real life but in his column everything he says has to be politically correct. I don't blame him that's just the way football player columns are.

That's my issue. We know Lockyer has a lot to offer knowledge wise but it seems every ex-footy player is bound by some never say anything negative code.

This 100%, that's why I don't even bother with articles, interviews, or post game conferences with players or ex players.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that many of them have employment with the nrl and/or channel 9, so they can't really criticize their employers. Only Phil Gould is allowed to do that without any repercussions apparently.

Its a reflection of his character really, calm and composed.

Compare it to dead shits like Mundine who just call someone a racist if they don't agree with something.

Gordon Tallis generally tells it more like it is, at least when compared with others.
Lockyer is too PC for my liking... I'm sure it's more out of respect for the Broncos hierarchy than anything else, because most of his articles have been about the club he just left.

Hopefully he will start being a bit more assertive in his opinion in the future.
