How good was our D last night? Not just the effort to hold out for then first 20min but the style of defence with the first contact being low and hard with a shoulder driving the attacker backwards. What a pleasure to see.

Now I hope the NRL and refs can see how much better the game will be to promote that style and give the players slightly longer to get off the ground instead of presiding over the ridiculous ruck speed of last night. If we are going to get punished for super defence while teams like Melb and Roosters and the Bunnies hold players up then tackle them and get their lines set we will get blown off the park.

It's definitely been the biggest improvement from last season from what I've seen in the first 5 weeks, we're hitting way harder in defence and our line speed is much better.

If our attack clicks when Darius and Hodgo get back.. look out NRL.

More to that point. When are we going to see reward for good rugby league tackles around the legs. Gillet make a copybook tackle around the thighs last night and was penalised for staying on too long , how is it not a dominate tackle? He showed perfect technique to fell the player, immobilising the player without going anywhere near the ball. Should be rewarded not penalised.

I'll settle for Kahu first, Hodges, Copley for Reed then what's his name

First 20 minutes or so was all Titans - it was sensational watching us hold them out and then pretty much immediately score down the other end once we had a chance.

Slightly off topic, but is my memory bad or have we looked like a dog's breakfast in attack in the 1st 20 minutes of most of our games this year?

I still think out forwards are sitting on their heels too much and waiting for the opposition to come to them. We aren't nearly aggressive enough IMO.......

I remember that and thinking the same thing. A second after standing up and applauding a great tackle, i was saying "bullshit ref".

Never looked flustered. Happy to concede dropouts, confident we could handle them.

counting to 3 on every tackle was a bit ridiculous, the ruck just looked messy a lot of the time with players rolling around trying to get up quickly.

When was the last time a Broncos drop out went more than 50 metres too? Brought a smile to my face.

We're definitely playing with an intensity that has been missing for some years. If we can turn that intensity into an 80 minute performance, we'll be firing by the time Darius shakes off the rust

I agree, and the defensive techniques have improved as well. Yet there are key elements of good defence which are still patchy. Line speed is one, and as Mr F said above, we don't hit in defence up the middle. Now Copley's hit on Ryan James is how you defend.

Against the Roosters who won't have another "off" day against us, slow line speed in defence will be fatal. Their forwards need to be stopped in their tracks, and offload possibilities wrapped up.

Still, It's getting better every week which is great to see.

The guys will go into this game knowing that if they can jag a win, they secure a spot in the top 4 for the foreseeable future and will even keep us in touch with Souffs at the top. They'll be up for this

McCullough said of the most testing aspects of the camp."Physically you've got to do something you probably don't feel like doing and that can be in games as well. Some days you don't feel like turning up and playing – that happens to anyone – but at the end of the day you've got to do your job even if you like it or not.

Concerning ......

Bit hard to comprehend why a player making 300K+ for 10 mnths of the year........playing a game they're supposed to love playing, could have this attitude.

Probably speaks volumes about McCullough's consistency problems.

I'm sure every player has those days.

I'm sure Thaiday had this same attitude up until Bennett told him his contract was on the line. Maybe McC got the same message because he's definitely upped his game in recent rounds.
