Our Signings - Half Season Review

Setu is easily the best QLD backrower of his age group, just wait untill he is used properly. Fantastic buy.

Israel Folau: Has provided some class and reliability to our backline but hasn't made the same impact as he did last season. 7/10

Lagi Setu: Bigger things were expected from Setu who was considered an Origin possibility this time last year. So far he's been extremely sloppy, complacent and a liability. 2/10

Ben Te'o: Has been solid in general defence but has been far too inconsistent with ball in hand. 4/10

Aaron Gorrell: Solid contributor but hardly effective. Sadly he's been better than Marsh and on occasion, McCullough. Most notable moment was being mistaken as Corey Parker. 3/10

Antonio Winterstein: Has come a long way since pre-season and is learning each week in the NRL. Has improved on a number of aspects of his game since coming into first grade. 6/10

I cant see folau ever being as good as inglis. We are yet to see much of a fend or a step at all. Its either jumping over ppl, or barging over right now

If that's the case, then it would seem we have wasted a whole lot of money contracting him, and in the process, lost a number of good players As a result.

Personally, I feel we haven't seen nearly what Folau is capable of. We haven't used him properly. Henjak seems to have coached him to do not much more than jump and barge.

Of course Folau hasn't reached his potential, not just at the Broncos but anywhere yet. He's only 19 isn't he?

He needs to learn how to run lines, particularly if he ever wants to play centre consistently. I trust Alfie and the backs coaches are working with him.

Other than a natural jumping ability, I don't think Folau is that endowed with natural talent like an Inglis is. However, I think Folau's attitude is better than Inglis, who is well known to have had a major chip on his shoulder as a junior and even now can go MIA in a game if he can't be fucked.

+1 Time will tell, I think he has a lot more development left in him, if he gets the right coaching.

Folau is worth every cent that we (reportedly) paid for him.

Of course he is, but the question remains - Was it worth it to pay big money for Folau in expense for a quality prop and the form hooker of the comp? IMO, no way.

There was no way we were going to match the Bulldogs' offer for Hannant, regardless of signing Folau or not. He got a good offer from the Broncos, he got an outstanding offer from the Bulldogs. We were never gonna keep him.

If we had not have signed Teo and Setu I reckon we could've kept Ennis, and still got Folau.

Ben was not greedy, the broncos were. They only offered Ben $60,000 of course he is going to leave.

We really need to get rid of Setu, Gorrell and Sims. Te'o I think can come good. And seriously do you think they offered him 60k? As if the reports were he was offered 250 and bulldogs offerered him 350 which he took. Webcke was only on 350 a yr in his final yrs and Hannant is good but definately not Webcke good. We should have got rid of Steve Michaels as well and Kept Boyd.

Are you his manager? There's no way in hell the Broncos would have offered such a small amount for Hannant. I could understand maybe $60,000 less than the Bulldogs, but not $60,000 total.

Yeah I reckon I mean come on that would be a slap in the face to him!

Isn't 60ish-K the mimium (some NRL law or something???) you can get paid if you're in the top 25 at the club?

The Broncos never put an offer to Ben. His manager came to them with the Bulldogs offer and said what's your counter. Broncos said we won't be able to get anywhere near that, so if that's Ben's asking price he should take the offer. Manager said OK, we will.

To suggest they offered $60K to a prop forward who played Origin is laughable and whoever told you that is an idiot.
