OFFICIAL Payne Haas to depart Broncos at the end of 2026

I'm not surprised he is leaving. The second we won the GF i said he will probably leave now, he has his comp. What does surprise me is it's the rabbitohs... All that makes sense is that the Broncos weren't happy to sign a 1 year deal, and souths signed a 3 year deal with options for him to leave for PNG/R360.

Why else would you leave the broncos when your family is here, your parents in jail here, and they are more likely to win a comp than souths... Even if souths gave him $200k a year more, after agent fees and tax, he gets less than 100k more, and that would be chewed up by the higher cost of living.

Very confused by it. In a positive, it means we will be able to keep everyone else in the team that we want. I wouldn't mind exploring Lindsay Smith for circa $750k.
 
I think the disloyal arguments are rubbish to be honest.

He was loyal when we were a basket case and helped deliver us our first premiership in 19 years.

He’s earned the right to now look after his family. They only have a short amount of time to earn before their careers are over.
 
of the off contract players to replace Haas (playing off the bench with xman moving to start), i would consider the following would be my preferences:

Harrison Edwards, Samuel Hughes, Jaimin Jolliffe, Toby Rudolf, Lindsay Smith, Siosiua Taukeiaho

Surely it's around this figure or more. If he's on $1.2m ish here, he's going to need $1.5m plus to make it worthwhile when you factor in how ****ing shit it will be for him to live in Sydney. If his family moves in with him, he's going to need to drop $3m + for a complete dump like this in Matraville.
