The same thing happens when some public figure with a clean image, like say, Darren Lockyer, gets shitfaced and a bit rowdy, like say, playfully wrestling with the manager of some crappy pub on Caxton St, has his photo taken or whatever without his knowledge and is made the object of everyone's high-mindedness for the sake of a quick buck, both by the trashy media and the scum that released the footage/photo.

He's an elite athlete! He shouldn't have a life or do anything remotely fun or risque! We the public OWN him, in fact, whilst not swimming or training he should be locked in a cage, along with the broncos players....

I do have to laugh at people who blame the media though. Kinda like women who slam the paparrazi, all the while they continue to buy the trashy magazines.

Did we learn nothing from the old Simpsons halloween episode where advertisements turn into monsters? The same thing with journos and magazines - just don't look, just don't buy and they just won't have a product anymore! If the public is interested, suitably outraged and buying everything with these "news stories" littered throughout, then they're going to keep on keeping on!

Mick sadly it's also the other way around. In general, people are dim and not interested in the real awesomeness around them, like babies with shiny/noisy objects. If the papers etc stopped following "celebrities" around and detailing every minute of their lives, people would quickly forget all about it and read a book or talk to their kids.
