POST GAME POST GAME [Round 2, 2023] Broncos vs Cowboys

See at least now you mentioned one of the problems with my suggestions that i was also thinking. bit better than that rubbish you spewed before.

Yea it would suck for that to happen. But surely we can make exceptions for accidental normal high tackles compared to illegal tackles like shoulder charge, hip drops , chicken wings, etc etc etc. im sure you know where im going with this
I do. I just don't have faith in the decision makers in the sport. Personally I just want them to penalise guys with suspensions properly in the first place so the behaviour is curbed. No good doing it for a week or two then coming out with charges where you just shake your head. Coach it out of them.

In saying that it's a very hard game to get right under fatigue. Especially when the legs tackle isn't rewarded these days. That would be a start. Reward grass cutters. Maybe allow another guy to flop in if there is a great grass cutter. I dont know. Just an idea. If you want less head high/shoulder tackles etc you have to do something to reward it.

The change so far has been significant. Kevvie's attitude even appears different.

Reynolds needs far more credit for game management. He has taken pressure off, to let Mam and Walsh have fluid space with plenty of time.

Staggs needs to take advantage of this and grow his confidence. He looks like a player just starting to understand/learn his ability to impact a game. His defensive work has improved and i can see he is working on his choices. Maybe a slower developer but there is light there.

Arthars - i really think he deserves a lot of credit. He has improved every aspect of his game and looks far more prepared and cooler than in previous years. His attitude on field looks very much of a seasoned NRL player and IMO should be held onto with a worthy contract. I was critical of his performances in previous seasons, but he has really evolved. To me looks like a Herbie, but without the blistering speed, needs to be retained.

Fleg - avg. Let him go to dolhpins.

Herbie - its apparent the choice was for the money. If not the money, no dolphins team in the next 5 years will be this capable. Irrelevant of end result.

sorry, not sure what your talking about here, what players you talking about?
Just the whole thing if a tackle injures a player than that player is out for as long as that player is hurt. Some are innocuous and that would be harsh.

I'm fine with it being judged on the rules of what the tackle is, injury loading I think is fair if it's from an illegal tackle, if that ends up being less then the time player is off that is fair, like if a player got an ACL off a bad tackle it would be brutal to give a player a 30 round suspension.

i agree with mostly all this but my argument is the current system they have is just such a cluster **** they have proven time and time again that they have zero consistency.

put it this way i would not be surprised one bit if Taupau gets more weeks for his hip drop then drinkwater gets for breaking a blokes jaw.

It sounds ludicrous to to say out load but its a real posibility.

That to be says the current way they have of penalising this stuff is not even close to the right track.

Yeah that is a good example. I think an extra two weeks is ok too.

On Oatsey:

“He has a clean break and is in the emergency department. He’ll be out for at least four to six weeks which is a huge blow for the Broncos,” Corey Parker said on Fox League at fulltime.

“I suspect Scott Drinkwater is going to miss a lot of football in the next couple of weeks,” Cooper Cronk said.

What a game, i wont mention the standouts but maybe some silent achievers. Jordan Rikki, hes been immense Defensively the last few games and has had some tough carries. Marty Taupau, probably our economical buy of the season. If he plays like that for the season he will be a great asset! Cory Jensen, always solid, hits the ground fast, finds his front 80% of the time and gives reyno a heap of time to kick! Ordinary tonight i thought was Cobbo. He just looks unfit and slow,
Agree with all you've said, I think Riki is only going to keep improving. Seems to be hitting harder in defence this year too.

I agree some of it is fucked. But I don't remember a time where people are ever really happy. Especially in rugby league. What makes the game so hard to administrate, officiate etc. So many different agendas pulling from different areas. Listen to gould atm when it comes to suspensions. Some of the commentary is embarrassing. He thinks you should be able to murder someone before you get suspended

Wonder how many games the Cows play in the next couple of weeks.

Can we stop having deadshit ex players in commentary? Seriously, they fucking suck.

it's fucking embarrassing, what other club has to deal with this shit they all got chips on their shoulders.

Parker only ever played for this club, like wtf.

Walsh absolutely immense.

Reynolds, one of his worst ever games. Needs to be better next week. Pass kicking duties to Herbie or Walsh.

Staggs, **** me this **** is lazy. Release him.

I know your a chin dribbler but I'm starting to agree lol.

Surely Mam ahead of dearden on the 6 pecking order for qld if Munster unavailable.
I hate to make comparisons, but Mam reminds me of JT. The deceptive pace/ running style, the tenacious defense, knack of always being around the ball when something is on. I love the bloke.

Walsh was electric tonight, the way he moves and turns on his wheels is just pure excitement.

What happened to Oates tonight is a disgrace, Drinkwater left the ground and shouldered him in the face. It was a send off any day of the week and if Wade got four weeks than Drink should get that minimum.

We are a sided ready to do business this year and I am loving what we a bringing.

Great work from Kev again this week. The coaching has been great including our bench use.

Not that I think he played badly at all tonight but I thought Haas could have gotten a longer break tonight - off earlier and back at the same time. Bench use was pretty good though. Much preferred Tapau coming in earlier than Palasia this week, really would like to see a better option than Keenan on the bench, though I know he can do a job. Piakura or Willison hopefully will get a run sooner rather than later.

I like Flegs and Tapau coming off the bench as first change, means we don't lose a whole lot of momentum, particularly if Payne stays on. Still loving Jensen - he's just a good, reliable prop who does his job with a minimum of fuss. When he's on I also appreciate that he's generally the first forward getting back and involved in a get out set - Riki is the same.

Mentality I guess I can agree, but they are completely different players otherwise, Thurston is and always has been a proper 7, Mam is just a natural 6 and ticks all the boxes you want from a natural 6 looking for the run and has insane athletic ability like a fullback, I'm not sure what I would compare him to tbh.

He just looks like the textbook 6, like Munster but in his own individual way that said he still far from being the carry the whole team on his back and make something himself like him but given he is still 2 years younger then what Munster was when he made his debut he is in a very good trajectory.
