POST GAME POST GAME [Round 3, 2023] Broncos vs Dragons

I have to concede, two of those critical tries included very forward passes. Patty's offload to Walsh was SBW-like, it went more forward than it did sideways. Staggs' over-the-top, had it gone against us, I'd be blowing up about.

Haas offloads ✅
Ezra & Walsh supporting and always around the ball ✅
And here is a new one…
Patty ball playing like Radley for the rorters. ✅
Before anyone mentions how bad we played when he did it a lot in the first half, that’s not the point. The point is it adds another dimension to our attack!

Only read the first page so far and too much negativity for me. I'll read the rest soon but for now...

Walsh was great but needs to learn a little patience and when to pick his mark.

Somebody must have been reading the forum because...

Bench use was pretty good.
Walsh was playing on the right more this week.
Staggs was more involved taking the tough carries and a couple of dummy half runs.
Flegler (who I've always been a critic of) was great.
The hooker rotation worked well.
Payne has found his offload.

A couple of little things I noticed early on...

Forwards running in numbers from early on.
Carrigan, Flegler, Haas - whenever somebody took a hitup, one of the others was always thereabouts.

Mam and Walsh sniffing around the back of this has been a big difference so far this season.

Up the Broncs!

I thought Pat's came out of the hand backwards. Staggs, yeah not convinced it went back at all, I need to watch it back.

🚨 *** Controversy Alert *** 🚨
but I didn’t think “my daddy is the coach” did too much wrong tonight. Didn’t set the world on fire by any stretch, but wasn’t bog average like Capewell. A solid 5/10 for Billy.

I honestly thought the ball to put Staggs away was more forward, but his was questionable too.

Patty's was OK - he reached out as far as he could and then flicked it around the back of the defender. To call that one forward would have been very harsh

I've been very judgemental of Staggs but he definitely proved a point to me tonight, especially getting more involved with the hit ups and helping out more. Staggs up over 100mtr and hopefully this was a turning point game for him, I hope he can really carry on. Paix best game in broncos colours I'm really liking his development and he made a big difference for us to change momentum. It was terrific seeing Haas offload the ball, I always thought if he can get a bit of ball movement in his game he'll be unstoppable.

I think the first half we just expected the game to fall in our lap, we didn't seem interested in having to work for it. I've always said its a sign of a good team when you can play well below your best and still take away the two points.

Credit to Kev for been able to stop the shit at half time and send them out firing.

I like that play of running Payne a little wider at the smaller men. When he sucks in 3 defender's on the edge any offload is going to put someone into open space.

Gotta give credit to big Marty i love what he's brought to us this year. Very solid in defence, good carries and doesn't take a backwards step. Also love that Riki seems to have taken it upon himself to be our kick chase leader. He's regularly breathing down the nexk of the opposition when Reno puts up those towering bombs.

I'll probably end up saying this after every match but i really hope our management have got an incredibly solid plan a, b and c for replacing Reynolds. A good halfback is the final piece of the puzzle and not replacing him adequately will set us back so far.

We've got to get a big buy in the next 12 months - Losing Herbie, Fleggs, Palasia, Reynolds (nearing the end getting cheaper soon no doubt). We've got to have a war chest building up.

It’s been so long since we had a legitimate halfback. I can’t fathom the thought of going back to not having one and in particular a guy like Adam Reynolds retiring just seems too sad to think about right now.
