POST GAME POST GAME [Round 3, 2023] Broncos vs Dragons

I think we were poor first half but absolutely owned the 2nd half and really showed what we can do.

Can't be perfect every week, but at the end of the day, we got the 2 points and put on a score, I'll take that any day.

We are 3 and 0, AND have a fuckload of upside and plenty of improvement to come. Thats exciting.

Side note, fair play to the players becauce fk me it was hot at suncorp tonight...

I've been very judgemental of Staggs but he definitely proved a point to me tonight, especially getting more involved with the hit ups and helping out more. Staggs up over 100mtr and hopefully this was a turning point game for him, I hope he can really carry on. Paix best game in broncos colours I'm really liking his development and he made a big difference for us to change momentum. It was terrific seeing Haas offload the ball, I always thought if he can get a bit of ball movement in his game he'll be unstoppable.

Also loved Reynolds' post-match on-field interview with Fox Sports. The bloke is incredibly level headed, and knows we weren't at the races today. A few other players might get carried away with how we finished the match, but A-Rey will bring 'em back down to earth.

I said in the live feed if we were still in touch with St Merge at the 70th minute we'd get them. I didn't see the dragqueens wilt that much though.

Was Jensen left on the bench coz he's not 100%? Flegs had a great game and did take to their pack, but I do prefer him coming off the bench. Best game from Staggs for a while and Jesse Arthurs was so confident taking those bombs in traffic. Hope they sort the pitch out by next Friday as it was atrocious to see our speed demons fall over every second run.
Kev said in the presser that Flegs starting was Reynolds idea

I know. Horses for courses I guess.
I’m not a fan of it personally and I think despite his good stats and big runs he actually contributed to our poor first half. His intensity and forced plays was apart of the attitude issue trying of trying to score off every play instead of settling in and setting a platform, which Jensen does so well. He had quite a few moments that put us under pressure.

Still overall a good game for him but I think Jensen is just such a better starter and Flegs does his best coming in off the bench.

Fully agree. Hope they revert back to normal next week.

Apologies if it has already been said in the thread but I thought it was very interesting when they said on the call that our for and against was +100 with Paix on the field and over -100 with Billy on the field. If this is true then that is crazy and shows Paix needs to be playing more minutes. It's clear to see the service is a lot better with him at 9.

Too many variables to look at it that simply.

very good possibility that it's the fact that Paix is coming on against tired defence, which allows Paix to put those stats on the board.

Billy starting and taking the brunt of the fresh defence, with Paix taking on the tiring legs is working. no need to fix what isn't broken

Billy is starting because he's the more mature out of the two and he's on there to take the brunt of the opening minutes so when Paix comes on, the defence has been softened up and there's some tired legs so he's able to provide the impact he provides.

The stats were always going to favour Paix.

I have to concede, two of those critical tries included very forward passes. Patty's offload to Walsh was SBW-like, it went more forward than it did sideways. Staggs' over-the-top, had it gone against us, I'd be blowing up about.
Yea and that Paix try didn't look like it reached the ground at first glance. Glad they didn't look at it.

Anyone else think when Payne came back on in the last 10 he seemed angry
