POSTS REMOVED DUE TO COMPLAINTS

If you are seriously concerned about these threats I would contact the EFF locally, this isnt the first time legal threats have been made to try and stifle discussion or negative views. Just look at Whirlpool etc. I do think though a particular "rift" thread went too far as to be serious, but no names were mentioned as far as I know.

The law states it'd have to be obvious to identify them to joe average and I have no idea as to who may have been referred to, but had little interest in the subject.

Regardless of what was said these tactics are sucky and should be fought, if you let them dictate what can and can't be said you might as well give up now... because anything negative they will try and stifle.

End of the day though it is your neck ultimately and people should respect that, and think before they post rubbish.

I think that "real rift" thread was the bad one. I saw that myself and thought it was rubbish, that belonged in newidea, not on bhq.

Everyone just needs to think about what would happen should the media get a hold of the bullshit rumours.

The club is going through enough without fans deliberately or stupidly dragging the club into more crap.

Sure we can bag out poor performances etc but dont become one of the vultures circling.

Agreed Browny.

Regardless of whatever actually occurred, this should serve as a wake up call for all of us, particularly in a time when emotions are running high due to the club's poor fortunes this year. As fans discussing the Broncos - and sometimes in a heated way - it may be easy to forget that we are still utilising a public forum as our medium for discussion and also discussing real people, not entertainment characters. Therefore, its important to always be mindful of the boundaries between throw-away lines or your typically harsh style of fan banter, and outright slanderous rumours.

I wish all parties concerned the best for a positive outcome.

This place has gone to the pits in the last few weeks. Even without the threat of legal action that thread should have been removed - it was rubbish and served no real purpose apart from spreading hearsay.

Hope the news is positive Coxy, although I wouldn't be at all surprised if you're forced to close it down. Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

The website is not being closed down, and awesome host will not be closing it down either.

Did the open letter to the broncos go the same way as the other posts. I thought that was one not too bad and some good points were made??

In fact, the biggest waste of time of post was mine in that one (not unusual).

Given the controversy of the last few days we figured a letter forwarded from this web site would probably be laughed at so didn't really see the point to be quite honest.

Fair enough, disappointing though, it was a good idea of yours.

Didn't see this till today. I'll be extra careful with what I post although I usually never comment about players outside of football, besides for example saying Gallen's a ****, is there anything wrong with something like that? Or is it only about making up rumors and things which could damage a player/persons reputation?

I think everyone should respect the situation and be extra careful with how they post as Coxy and who ever else is Admin could suffer from it and this forum as a whole.

Admins, maybe you should have like a popup so when everyone logins/visits they get re-directed to this thread and have to re-accept terms and conditions before they can't post again, if that is possible.

Everyone has a right to an opinion broncospwn. There is a freedom of speech in this country - and they can't change that. The issue here is that certain allegations were made, and were interpreted as slanderous. No sources were given, and no evidence was provided - there in lay the problem.

Did you read Hammoz's thread? Just don't do that and you will be fine. It's a football forum - so just keep things football related. If someone has a bad game - you have the right to express your disappointment. If you have anything suggestive, make sure you have a source.

Simple.

I understand the drama's as I saw it happen to the Souths forum and a member there. I just find it interesting that the Broncos are now so worried about their image, that they are looking at suing whoever they can at the moment to brighten said image. Even their own major shareholder, which is slightly weird.

I agree with the actions of the admin. Keep it footy related and lets not feed the negative media.

Did you read what was posted? I'm sure if you were very well known, and were one of two players acused of such absolute garbage, you'd be pretty upset too.

As a matter of interest, apart from being kicked out of the galaxy, did Hammoz get away with a kick up the pants?

Not sure. When I spoke to him, he was angry about being banned, and said we should have fought it, they would have lost in court, we could have defended ourselves blah blah blah.

I doubt anything will come of it. But it he chooses that path, he's a bit of a nuffy.

Is he serious? That to me says he just doesn't get it!
