NRL Pre-season Challenge 1: TITANS - Feb 12, 7:05pm (Sunshine Coast)

Broadcast on Fox/Kayo only.

The Tits would be hoping they can stick that ref in their back pocket and have him for every game this season. He was just plain diabolical.

I thought Smoothy went alright, Paix was guilty of trying to hard and Billy Walters still looks like a 5/8 trying to play 9 and not sure what his job is.

One worrying thing was how easy the titans were marching up the field due to our lack of a tackler to bend his back and go low. Some of the big Titan forwards were walking 5-10 after contact.

Reece Walsh looked dangerous and should probably leave the kicking close to the line to Reynolds.

Payne Haas actually looked to be hitting in defense which was a pleasant surprise.

Shit reffing but with all the reserves on the second half was to be expected.

He was rubbish, but he wasn't the only one.

But if you listen to this lot of crybabies, we played shit because of some conspiracy that leads to the top of the NRL. That's what makes me dread the season and every live thread. Always the same *****.
It's not mutually exclusive.

Let's not forget how heavily involved the betting agencies are in the NRL, nor that the NRL is trying to expand as a business.

NSWRL conspiracy bad, Walters family conspiracy good.

Yeah I don’t read it during the year schizophrenia, bias and rage makes it near unbearable and whilst I don’t buy into the conspiracies that ref was genuinely ass hole. I wouldn’t say he we played asshole though our depth struggled but they played big minutes first half and then had to come play against fresh youngsters as well as a man down with practically no subs in the second half. It was practically a fitness session in the second half, some really big minutes played from players for first game back in a higher level than a good chunk of the second halfers usually play.

You know it isn’t a requirement to be in the live game threads right?

Never mind the poor reffing. After a full preseason our defence of the ruck is non existent, ball handling absolute shithouse, our line speed is Frikkin woeful, our discipline is downright disgusting and Piakura is a myth it seems and Skip walters has gone backwards if anything.
I know it’s only a trial, but If that’s our answer to the six losses on the trot at the end of last year then Kev hasn’t understood the question.

Definitely agree on the defensive problems. Hopefully the likes of Carrigan, Hetherington and Capewell will fix that

I went to the game and sat behind the broncos bench.
Walsh is fine, didn’t seem to be any injuries to speak of.
The second half was essentially third stringers and it obviously showed.
The first half was really enjoyable, the standout was Reece he really was sublime. Super vocal in D which you love to see.

Once the chopping and changing of players started we were always going to lose momentum but still was a good display for our 1st hit out. Walsh looks set for a big year. Yes he did try a little too hard in a few plays but still was terrific. Bring Reynolds in to help control the game and this is the best 1,6,7 were had in at least 3 or 4 years.

They clearly changed the rule, he blatantly loses grip on the ball and to score a try you need to re-grip? Which is basically impossible as you are trying to score with downward force
