Back to normal today. So many great stories over the last three days.
- Kevvie wasn't there but Rach, Jett and Jack were there with Bill.
- Jason Hetherington with the twins.
- So many old boys, Reed, Lockyer, Gillett, JYY, Prince, Hannant, Petero and Hancock.
- Nash Dawson with Walsh and Mam. How happy is he with his two clients.
- Casino on Sunday night with every player on stage.
- Walsh's former partner being there to look after their daughter and share the moment with Reece.
- Mayor of Toowoomba getting a photo of Paix, Fergurson and Ciesiolka together and them happily posing together for their city.
- Bukowski jumping around like a lunatic at fulltime- he was one year old at the 2006 Grand Final.
I said on Sunday that one on one front on defence would win this, and I think the Broncos stopped four tries doing just that.
So many injuries- which every premiership team has but Broncos had Hetherington on no legs, Payne on one ankle, Smoothy has shoulder problems, Mam wasn't playing again but worked so hard to get back, Reynolds and Hunt were never 100%.
Broncos used 27 players this year which is the second fewest behind Sharks on 25. It's a popular adage in league the club with the fewest players wins but you need luck with injuries and to be super fit. But once you get over 30, you're going to run out of legs. The teams down the bottom always use the most because they're not stable.
Depth and fitness improved dramatically my two biggest gripes for years. Getting the best out of players 25-36 is clubs biggest neglected area but the Broncos have nailed it this year.
I really love this cohort and 16/17 I have watched play Meninga, NYC, Colts, Allan Langer Trophy or Cup. They just clicked this year, and the staff were able to identify weakness and strengths and then work around that and bring out the strengths. They're a good fit for each other that peaked at the right time of year.
