I'm with 9 on this.Lol at the gf being 4th. But obvious which games are 1 and 2 :)
The grand final was a bizarre game. Atkins went rogue and was far too strict in the first half. The game was never allowed to settle into a rhythm and it was difficult to make heads or tails of the 22-12 scoreline.
Melbourne made better use of the field position, but they didn't seem entitled to that lead.
Second half, Atkins put the whistle away and the Broncos looked better with Ezra at 6. Still, they were there to be beaten and Melbourne bottled it. Some of the choices they made with the footy were so unlike Melbourne. Still, it was nice to see the Broncos bravery rewarded. A couple of months prior, Brisbane lost a game to Melbourne when they lost their starting halves - to win a Grand Final without both is unheard of.
The Penrith game was a higher quality game where Brisbane had to prove themselves. Penrith ran the exact gameplan Sydney and Parramatta ran but the Broncos to their credit didn't buckle. The backs were outstanding, if ever there was a game where Karapani should have been exposed, it was this but he was sublime. Brisbane hung in there, they were rewarded for being creative with the football and when the game was there to be won they toughed it out. Walsh and Mariner taking the line on to win it was a big moment in both men's career.
I still can't comprehend what I saw against the Raiders. There were at least half a dozen moments that would be major talking points in a season to have it all take place in 30 minutes was bizarre. Granted, that was my least favourite game to watch live - I may have set a record for Bellamy style walk-offs.
By the end I felt more like this, than Madge popping off:
