congratulations to Gavin Cooper for being selected to make his debut

I'd like to see Kev start with Gavin Cooper.

He's got a strong combination with JT down that left edge and he's the type of player who gets better as the game wears on. The side isn't going to be worse off for having Sam come off the bench, in fact, you could make the argument he's a bench specialist these days and his versatility enables him to fill any role in the team.

Queensland will definitely miss Papalii. He's been one of the Maroons best this series, a real unsung hero who has helped swing the tide in Queensland's favour whenever he's come on. In fact, it was his run in the first Origin game that allowed Queensland to score their one and only try. If you watch the set again, you'll notice Papalii puts the Blues on the back foot, giving Cronk the opportunity to combine with JT which eventually saw Dane score. Thaiday, Lillyman and Myles have their work cut out for them.

Congratulations to Gavin Cooper. I've always considered him to be one of the unsung heroes of the Cowboys and one of the most underrated players in the NRL so it's great to see him get a go.

Ta Foordy, I read that, just wondering what sort of injury it is?

It's certainly a blow.

doh ... one of those days for me, i thought you were asking why he was dropped.

The Raiders website says he injured his hip against the Knights and is due back in round 20

I would have loved to have seen the Broncos boys put their club first and sit out this game to help the Broncos get their season back on track.. Since you know, Broncos keep saying how bad Origin is for the side and this game really is meaningless.

Which Broncos said this game was meaningless?

Or are we still using that Gordie quote from 2000?

No, I'm saying the game is meaningless.

Probably should have worded it better.

Okay, but don't you think that's a little selfish on your part? This is something the players have been working towards since they first raced out onto the field. Of course they're going to take any opportunity to represent Queensland, if they treated it like it was a City v Country game they would become an utter laughing stock.

And no Origin game is ever meaningless. In fact, some of the best games in recent times have been dead rubbers. 2007, 2009, 2010...2014 felt great too.

Papalii got a 'Canberra' injury, meaning he is perfectly healthy and Sticky looking out for his own interests?

Pffft, didn't you hear him, he wants more Origin players, not less.

Try telling that to Steve Mortimer. NSW's win in that 3rd game of 1984 laid the platform for the breakthrough of 1985. Couldn't believe how many times I heard this at the leagues club on Friday night.

Let's just hope that they finish this crap off with no injuries to Broncos players. Can't wait to get back to real footy as the number 1 objective.
